nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 12, 2009 Sampled from a growler at a DC local growler. Thanks Scraff! Pours a transparent brown, amber with zero head. Floral, spicy nose. Malty flavor, spices, yeasty, sticky fruits. Sort of a funny after taste/finish. Didn’t translate well for me. jeffc666 (1886), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jul 17, 2009 I really dug this one. At first I was leery of the flowers but I came around and really enjoyed it. The interplay of yeast and flowers from the nose to the palate make this my 2nd favorite (so far) of their brews. I could drink it all day. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Jul 5, 2009 (DC Local Gathering, growler, thanks scraff) Small beige head atop lightly hazed amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, fruity (strawberry, melon), some spice, honey, light clove, straw, faint pepper. Taste is moderately sweet, strawberry, some straw/spice, light honey. Light-medium body, light stickiness. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 30, 2009 Thanks to Scraff for the heads up on this one. Wow- I wonder where they got the idea for a really good flower saison? ;)
Pours a deep coppery woody brown with a nice big fluffy tacky head. Aroma is spicy flowery, floral, big earthy yeastiness, fairly clean and no DMS or Diacetyl like some of thier beers. Flavor is doughy light nutty toasted malts, good floweriness, herbal, dandelion, light chamomile flowers- mineral citrusy- vitamin C tartness as it warms. Smooth and a very nice drying herbal earthy character in the end. Pretty damn solid for BA. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jun 27, 2009 Draft – Max’s. Dark hazy copper brown, creamy white head. Complex herbal mint and fresh flower aromas ride waves of nutty earth and touches of spiced yeast. Clean lemon and fresh ginger flavors are tightly wound over notes of spring flowers and wet earth. Well balanced from beginning to end. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, spiced floral finish. Very much reminds me of Cuvee des Fleurs from Southampton. Great beer that in my opinion is one of the best beers BA has ever done. Way to go, Volker! Bottle this as your summer seasonal perhaps?
