COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rue D’Floyd is one half of a collaboration between The Bruery and 3 Floyds Brewing Co. Both breweries being known throughout the kingdom of beer geeks for larger than life barrel aged beers, it was only fitting that this brew would be something of a similar scale. Working together to create a brand new recipe for an imperial porter at 14.4% ABV, the beer was then laid to rest in bourbon barrels for one year. Rue D’Floyd developed notes of toasty oak, vanilla and toffee from barrel aging, which was supplemented with vanilla beans, Portola coffee, TCHO cacao nibs and cherries prior to bottling. The result is a wonderfully balanced yet flavorful ale exploding with coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and dark fruit.

Quite sweet smelling and tasting as expected, but pretty well balanced between all that’s going on. What starts as a coffee dominated nose quickly turns to cherry-vanilla, then chocolate as well. Nice sipper. Not quite the best beer of the 2nd quarter as rated on RB, but pretty damn good!"

Rue D' Floyd The Bruery/Three Floyds American Porter 14.4% ABV APPEARANCE: Pours a deep dark raven black with melted chocolate subtle rim variations. Aggressive pour produced the smallest carmel latte colored head that went away in an instant leaving a small halo. AROMA: I was getting hit with a huge bouquet of deliciousness as I was pouring. Like chocolate covered cherries jubilee served over vanilla bean ice cream. Nice barrel notes coming out that really is begging me to drink this! TASTE:There is a party in my mouth and Rue D' Floyd is invited! Now the nose comes into play taking that delicious desert I described and barrel aging it then putting it in a blender. Very deep, dense and delicious. Nice and sweet without be overboard. Not as much cherry on the flavor as in the nose but for sure still present and amazing. MOUTHFEEL: Full body with light carbonation. Soft, velvety with a nice coating of the mouth and tongue. Wouldn't have guessed this is 14.4% almost no heat to it at all. OVERALL: No infection notes at all, it's to bad it's not recommended to age. Some time on this might really bring out some more of the layers. For me to date this is the best cherry beer I've tasted. Great collaboration between to great breweries! RATTING: 4.6/5 Zombie Heads! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 mL, huge thanks to Preston for sharing!! Pours a thick, oily black with small beige head. Nose and flavor bring gigantic, complex rich character, with vanilla, marzipan, espresso, almond, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate ganache, and sweet booze abound. A very distinct spiciness in the form of cinnamon and bold cacao with almost rum-like barrel character is prevalent throughout. Definitely warming, but very palatable for the ABV. Superbly done.

First on tap at The Bruery then poured from a bomber purchased at The Bruery poured into a 3Fpint glass Aroma is rum vanilla & lotsa spice! Flavor is best when more chilled than not. High ABV-hot!! Light vanilla getting a lot of allspice here. Did I say ALOT of spice here?! As it warms up it becomes more robust almost a different brew getting more molasses reminds me of pancake syrup but in a good way. Overall a better than average barrel aged brew. Spicy. Luscious. Very good.

Bottle shared by Tom10101, thanks! Pours black with tiny beige head and some lacing. Aroa is a very complex assembling of vanilla, caramel, marshmallows, dark fruits, coffee, chocolalte, roasted malt, molasse, and alcohol. Awesome mix! Taste is about the same. Alcohol is well hidden considering ABV. Balance is good. Full bodied. Creamy texture. A really nice one here!

Bottle (750 ml). Thanks to Marcus for this one! Black with a medium brown head and some lacing. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt, cherries, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, vanilla and light alcohol notes. Taste is moderately sweet with coffee, roasted malt, black cherries, caramel, vanilla, wood, alcohol (not much considering the abv) and light spiciness. Full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Thick mouthfeel. Warming finish. Very complex beer. No trace of infection yet. Good balance. Nice!
