From The Bruery:

“For our first local collaboration beer of 2013, we teamed up with our good friends at Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach, CA. We’ve worked with these folks on a number of small batch brews, beer dinners and general shenanigans for many years and it was really exciting to sit down and work on a full scale project with them for the first time. What we ended up with is an imperial smoked stout, but of course it wasn’t that simple. We smoked our own malt on the same smoker and with the same blend of three different woods that Beachwood uses for their award winning BBQ - apple, white oak and pecan. We then aged the beer on those same three types of wood. The resulting stout is hearty and wonderful, balancing the rich, meaty smokiness with the sweetness of the malt.”

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours midnight-black with a mid-sized, creamy, cappuccino head. Good retention. The bouquet consists mainly of fudge and coal smoke. Full-bodied and silky with gentle carbonation. The flavor is deeply roasted, furnishing carbonic, burnt malts and a scorched, bittersweet finish. This is truly an interesting world-class effort!

750 ml bottle acquired via trade. Thanks! Shared with deyholla. Pours a rich deep opaque blackish hue, dark and ominous, fairly thick with frothy light brown head. Decent layer sticks around ok, laces ok overall as a decent film. Aromas are cocoa and dark roast, cocoa nib, touches of coffee, decadent fudgey darkness meet some smokiness, wood and roast elements. Some richer depth shows mellow smoke, though it’d be more intense. Initial richer, fuled body. Some jet black roast, sweeter black malts and caramel. A lighter body than expected, the smoke elements come in a bit more firm. Wood, gentle campfire and ash meet some coffee, roast, cool toastiness, gentle mesquite and firmer ash/woody smoke elements. Not all that meaty. The middle is silky but full in body, glides over the palate as decent roast and smoke gives some carmelization, cocoa and biscuit, caramel and some sweetness at times. Touches of pretzels, toast and lingering smoke as we start to finish. The smoke element is nice but not overdone. I was under the impression based on reviews it was the opposite. Finish is dry, a bit roasty with lingering earthy smoke. I’m impressed. A solid offering with firm but not overwhelming smoke.

Bottle thanks to Adam! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of smoked malts with some roast and strong dark grains. Flavor has some sweet chocolate, smoke and light roast and a bit of dark chocolate.

Bottle shared at Moeder Lambic Fontainas by Dennoman, thanks Dennis. Black pour with creamy brown foam. Aroma is roasty, quite smoky, nice toasted wood aroma, some cocoa notes, mesquite. Taste is roasty, powdery cocoa, some meaty notes, burnt toast and smoke. Palate is full bodied with nice carbonation, not too heavy. Nice beer.

Thanks Gription79. Black, opaque, thin light brown head. Aroma of deep malt, licorice, roast, dark fruit, a baconlike smokiness. Flavor is again huge malt, licorice, toffee, roast, big smoke, light tar-like note. Big on the smoke, but I like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is the beer that Black Tuesday should be. Rich, smart and fully realised. Lots of big burnt and smoky flavours, chocolate, vanilla, toffe, roast. A full body. All flavours well integrated and in sync. World class.

Pitch black color. Huge smokey nose, massive cherry and roasty notes. Big roasty and huge smokey mouth, big flavors everywhere. Big body. Tons of roasty and huge smokey finish. Just big and bad ass and nothing overly complex, but delivered what was promised by the description. Love it.
