3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Croydonia Tasting - East Croydon. Thanks to Jack for sharing this fine seasonal beverage - where does he get this stuff?!? Pours clearish, dark brown with a creamy tan head. Nose is all wintery spices, brown sugar, light sweat. Medium to big sweet flavor with dark bread, Christmas [spices], faint tangy dark fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, more dark bread, spices, dark fruits. Very decent. Would drink better on a cold snowy evening, rather than the scorchingly hot day we have right now, but it’s still good beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Les Caves in Corvallis. Pours brown, but totally bright. Thick tan-brown head. Aroma is licorice caramel with light spices and chewy old dates. Dark. As flavor warms, the presence of spicy dark molasses becomes apparent. Body is medium thick with moderate creamy carbonation. Flavor is dark toffee and chewy Christmas sweets with molasses. Very good. I’m not too big of a fan of molasses in beers, but it’s pretty good!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ML bottle into a tulip
Dark chocolate brown color. Light brown head. Good carbonation for the size of the beer. Good lacing and structure.
Dark fruits, chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, and orange peel nose.
Taste is similar to the nose. Lots of spice, chocolate, dark fruits, and some coffee to boot. Big up front and ballsy beer.
Slightly too spiced I though but still quite nice. Alcohol is a little too obvious in the mouth. Big rich feel with subtle carbonation. I thought needed to be toned down a notch so that the Belgian part could me more obvious. Slow sipper, very slow

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Deep garnet, moderate to large frothy beige head, so-so lacing.   Cinnamon, allspice, and mulling
like spices up front.   Similar on the tongue, heavy spicing, a big of saltiness too.   Spices are pretty strong.
Its like a mulled beer.   Lots of flavor.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Slight astringency
on the backside.   Heavy cinnamon and allspice on the finish.   Spices are strong, but a bit dull, not sharp or
fresh.   Lingering candied orange peel.   Decent, even if a bit over spiced.   Most are under spiced, but this one does

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a solid dark brown with faint garnet highlights at the edges and a huge fluffy tan head that recedes to lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma’s of holiday spices, thick caramel and molasses with a slight fruity twang. The spice character for me is quite strong and overpowers most of the nose, but I actually think it is starting to tame a bit from the first time I had this brew. The flavor is sweet and malty up front with lots of thick sugar, caramel, and molasses. The spices and yeasty flavors provide a nice balance midway through before a shot of ethanol hits that I can trace moving down my throat. Sweet lingering sugary gingerbread house sits on the palette like gum drops long after every sip. Thick body with a sweet somewhat syrupy mouthfeel, and a light to moderate level of carbonation. I think I enjoyed this a lot better than when this was fresher, I think the flavors have come together a little bit better. This is no two turtle doves, but I enjoyed sipping on it for a while.
