5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ’12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. This is the only golden ale in the bunch but it definitely packs a holiday punch. We spiced up this 11.5% ABV ode to Winter with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with some delicious sweet and tangy pineapple.

A-unfiltered murky gold with quickly disappearing thin off-white head and no lacing. S-spices of ginger cloves all-spice and coriander are prominent book ends. Grapefruit and sun tea bitters make up the middle. M-tacky but thin with mild carbonation. T-cloves and ginger are strong, but grapefruit controls the overall taste from start to finish. Lemon and cheap banana liqueur, general alcohol, cleaning products and some sun tea bitters in the middle. Lightly metallic and medicinal on the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft at Blue Dog Tavern in Chalfont, PA. Of the three people in my party that had a four ounce glass of this, we unanimously agreed that this beer reminded us of Warheads candies. A fourth stole a sip and said "soy sauce," which I didn't get but to each their own. Regardless, I wouldn't return to this brew.

hazy gold, oily white ring head, large bubbled minor lace. Nose is heavy pineapple and wheat, cinnamon, musky heat. Flavor is musky, dirty paper, lightly sweet and estery. A mess... a success by Bruery standards.

Wow. This has a lot of pineapple. Not hugely sweet though. Decent as an exotic experience but not an everyday drinking beer.

750mL thanks to mixmasterob/my secret santa! Pours a low haze golden. Weak, white head. Nose is sage, honey, chamomile, estery, sugar cube, mild plastic and toilet cleaner. Taste is lemon, paper, harsh/acrid chemical, lemon, butyric acid/stomach bile. Harsh, unpleasant.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a reddish gold with a thin white head. Aroma of orang, pineapple and toffee. Flavor dominated by pineapple -- less balanced than the aroma. Lingering pineapple finsih.

Pours clearer golden with a light amber hue and quickly dissipating head. Aroma has sweet and crispy wheat like malt flavors. The flavor brings syrupy like malts and fruity Belgian yeast, a bit too much on the palate with a thick body.

On tap @ Max’s. Golden body with some white head. Spicy Belgian yeast, sweetness, and other spices. Way too sweet for me with the 11.5% ABV in full force. Might improve with some age but a bit young now (and I usually LOVE Bruery big ABV brews).

Appearance: Pours a hazy bright amber gold. A top sits a thin white cap.

Aroma: Gigantic tripel like perfumy Belgian yeast.

Taste: Tripel yeast, concentrated/extra pineapple juice, bitter spicy hops, clove. Finishes with overly ripe fruit sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied modest carbonation.

Overall: I am not a fan of this beer fresh. I will say , this beer has 7 years to go for 12 Drummers Drumming and will likely dry out a bit and probably be awesome in the next year or two. The pineapple is just too sweet within a style I’m not usually seeking. For those who like a sweet strong Belgian golden, you may like it now.
