COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ’12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. This is the only golden ale in the bunch but it definitely packs a holiday punch. We spiced up this 11.5% ABV ode to Winter with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with some delicious sweet and tangy pineapple.

Pours an orange color with white head. Has a citrus smell. Taste is sweet and citrus with a hint of spice at the end.

Golden orange with a fruity sweet aroma. Spice and heavy fruit sugars make the cloying, but there is something I like about it. No need for more than one though.

On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. Deep golden color. Aroma is ginger, fruitcake, and pineapple. Taste is light ginger spicing, sweet caramel and cherry, and ripe pineapple. Sweet spiced pineapple lingers in the finish.

Golden orange pour with a soft head. Aroma is ginger, pineapple and sweet spices. Taste is too sweet. It has a cloying taste that hangs in the throat. I need a beer with a bitter bite!

Pours an orange amber color with aroma of Belgian yeast, barnyard funk, pineapple, and spice. Very sweet pineapple flavor with candii sugar, Belgian yeast, and hint of holiday spice. Good lacing. Nice holiday beer.

750 ml bottle purchase a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($10.79). Pours a dark orange-amber hue with one finger of white foam. AROMA of sweet fermented pineapple, white wine (sauvignon blanc), Belgian yeast (reminiscent of Duvel), and some holiday spice. FLAVOR of overly sweet pineapple (like the heavy syrup in canned pineapple), some unfortunate metal-acidic element, spice with ginger standing out, and rather noticeable big alcohol. Rather cloying finish with some lingering booze. The aroma is pretty good, but the flavor is distracting and falls short. I liked the others in this series, but this was a disappointment. (213, 831)

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, spices, spicy yeast, other light fruits, some hints of alcohol, and caramel malts. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not the best blend of all the components.

Bottle poured a nice orange color with a coating of white head that fizzled back. Aroma has ginger, cinnamon, big fruit sweetness, pineapple, malted sweetness, Belgian yeast, and candied christmas fruits. Mouth feel is hefty and the carbonation lower than expected. Flavor unfortunately is too sweet, over spiced, and smacks of alcohol. The pineapple is big, tons of ginger, mixed spices, Belgian yeast, banana, and a long lingering finish. It did improve quite a bit once it was in the glass for a while aproaching the drinkable level. This was the first Bruery beer I got suckered into for quite a while but reading the description I figured a sweet Belgian beer with fruit would be something that they would pull off. At least this was one of the less expensive Bruery beers.
