3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, 75cl. An unclear, orange-golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. The aroma has a solid dose of cinnamon and also a nice pineapple juice twist. Besides that it’s too sweetish and alcoholic I think. Interesting though. Rather warming on the palate, with spices, pineapple, sweetness and a little bitterness. Full body. Lasting finish with spices, pineapple juice and alcohol. Although an interesting beer, it’s not a beer I crave to repeat. Would be interesting to sample a 6 % ABV edition though. 130803

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
7/24/13. 750mL bottle from Grassroots. Very hazy, almost creamy, deep amber golden pour. I had to pour hard to develop a 2-finger khaki head. I poured and then took a quick leak and when I came back it had fallen 3/4 (3fourths) with no lacing. The head sticks as a small ring and frothy layer but not much else. I was borderline confused when I smelled this - not much of what I was expecting. There’s booziness, harsh alcohol, candy sugars, and fruity esters, mostly Belgian golden aspects. Beyond that there’s a touch of vanilla, sweetness, and tartness, with pronounced ginger. The flavor hits straight away boozy and sweet, too sweet, lots of candy sugar, fruity esters, Belgian yeast, a touch of vanilla, ginger spice, and bits of pineapple tartness and flavor. I really wish this tasted like cake. A touch more vanilla and lightness and they’d be a lot closer. This is basically a candy and yeast bomb. And ginger. Whooooo buddy. Eh.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - Pours hazy amber with next to no head. Lots of spice and heat on the nose, with sweet fruity malt. Taste is slick and sweet, with pineapple, lots of baking spice, and lots of candied pineapple on the finish. Warm and boozy finish, slick with little carbonation. Decent, but only need a small sample.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orange-golden beer, clear, under a good yellowish head. Spicy, dry malts, perfumed, bit oppressive. Spicy, orangey(-peel) flavours. Sweet, with a fine sourish edge, balanced, but not really complex. Feels more carbonated than it looks. Very slick, alcoholwarming, bit burning MF, medium bodied at least. Overspice, over-all, as many’s the Bruery brews.

Échantillonnée d’un marathon de dégustation: Alcool bien camouflé, arôme de jambon à l’ananas heureusement pas aussi pénible en bouche.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
THOUGHTS: Hid alcohol almost unbelievably well. Very unusual. The pineapple was dominant and the spices weren’t very noticeable. This is a true rival to Mad Elf. Both are fruity Belgians that are deceptive in their strength. I wish this was a seasonal and not a one-off. Thankfully I have another bottle to age thanks to my brother and his fiancée. A very nice Christmas treat even if it wasn’t very Christmasy tasting.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, medium to dark gold with an average, off0white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma had light colored cake; underlying holiday spices; hints of alcohol when warmer; mostly pineapple; and put them all together to get pineapple upside down cake. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet, slightly acidic and lightly sour; while the finish was heavily sweet, lightly acidic and slightly sour. There was mostly pineapple, spicy yeast, underlying holiday spices, honey , light cake, pineapple upside down cake; The medium body was a bit oily with sort of soft carbonation and an ever so slight alcoholic finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Super boozy, with aromas of clove, pineapple, and brown sugar. Has little to no lacing, and no real head. Enjoyed in a tulip glass on draft. Very flavorful.
