COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ’12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. This is the only golden ale in the bunch but it definitely packs a holiday punch. We spiced up this 11.5% ABV ode to Winter with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with some delicious sweet and tangy pineapple.

The beer pours to a golden body with a foamy white head that dissipated. The aroma is yeasty and fruity, with lots of pineapple and ginger. The flavor is sweet with pineapple and pale malt. Very balanced. Medium body but a little sweet.

Bottle shared by Joes @ ZZT VII. Clear golden color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, sweetness, some alcohol, sourish, spices or herbs. No this isn’t it. Don’t like it.

Tasted at ZZT 7 thanks to Joes. Pours clear dark golden with an off white head. Aroma of pepper, spices, rye, candy, fruits, banana and alcohol. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with acidic pineapple building nastily. Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

750mL bottle pours with a crystal clear deep gold body that has copper hues and supports an initially creamy metallic tan head that somehow dissipated into a loose head and then nothing in under a minute. The aroma offers up various Belgian yeasty spices as well as rich malt sweetened apple and plum and slightly over ripe nectarine. The taste begins smooth and sweet with loads of apple and apricot and peach honey coating fruity esters that meld at about midway into a pleasing nectar like quality. Then the yeasty spices and holiday fruit cake spice punch takes over only to head right into a bit of booziness. All in all this is working pretty well for me and I think another 10 to 12 months of age might see some further blending and melding of the flavors into something even more enjoyable than it is right now.

chinchill (587) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Poured lightly hazy from a bomber bottle, amber color, with a small but durable off-white head. Vinegar (or similar) in the very sour aroma: smells like a good marinade ... or a bad beer. Well, the taste is similar, but perhaps a bit worse. There is some pineapple in the very tart taste. Medium bitterness. O: brewer’s description sounds wonderful; the beer is not. Hard to drink despite some attractive aspects.

Not my fave style but thought it was done well enough to be part of the series. One would think with the center of the song to be HUGE then the brew should be HUGE. Not.
