COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ’12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. This is the only golden ale in the bunch but it definitely packs a holiday punch. We spiced up this 11.5% ABV ode to Winter with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with some delicious sweet and tangy pineapple.

Taster poured orange-yellow with no head. Though I wasn’t aware this had pineapple, those notes dominated the nose. This ale is overly sweet, medium-bodied, with low carbonation. It does hide the alcohol under the syrupy texture.

(The Bruery 5 Golden Rings) Bottle 750 ml at home, from the Molen beershop a couple of years ago. Served into a big tulip, ABV 11.5% Deep orange colour on the body, slightly hazy, with one finger of white head, with good density and average retention. Aroma of spices, ginger, tropical fruits, alcohol, peach and apricot, sweet hints of pineapple. Seems a bit weird at first but eventually works. Taste is a combination of sweet and sour, with caramel malts, peaches and apricot like a belgian ale, tropical fruits, pineapple, maybe a bit too much of it, spices, alcohol, light ginger, cardamon. Medium body with good carbonation, sticky on the palate. Really interesting beer and eventually it grew on me, pretty good.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange color with a one finger white foam head that quickly fizzles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind. Heavily spiced aroma with lots of peppery coriander and, surprisingly, autumnal notes. Hints of clove, ginger and allspice followed by sweet citrus, pale malt and faint grassy hops. The spice presence is very prominent but I can still pickup the pineapple as well as some orange zest, bread and biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and an overwhelming pineapple juice presence that clashes with the heavy spice profile. Taste more like a breakfast juice or cocktail than a beer. Really strong artificial pineapple flavor along with pineapple juice and some orange zest before the heavy spices come in. Thankfully This provides a crisp, somewhat refreshing counterbalance to the overwhelming canned pineapple juice flavor. Some clove, ginger, pepper and coriander toward the back end as well as faint alcohol heat but the high ABV is well masked. An interesting idea but this beer is kind of a mess with extreme flavors on the opposite end of the spectrum clashing with one another.

Bottle to tulip Ginger, cinnamon, pineapple, mango, and candy. Translucent amber with no head. Taste is pineapple, ginger, candy, and quite syrupy.

Poured into a snifter. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited over a beer. Pineapple juice! 3.25 A: Murky orange brown color. Just over one finger of frothy beige head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing. 4.0 S: Smells as advertised. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice spiciness. Candied pineapple, mango, and sugarbread. Rich, sugary maltiness. They really nailed the pineapple, at least so far. 4.0 T: Tastes just like it smells. Lots of pineapple in this, through and through. It even has the slight tartness of pineapple juice. Mango and orange can be found as well. Spices mentioned above. Everything meshes into a unique beer experience that also happens to be quite tasty. 4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess and not too syrupy like a lot of Bruery beers. 4.0 D: This may be my favorite installment of the Christmas series. It’s interesting and tasty. I think I have to go pick up another bottle. DavoleBomb, Jul 04, 2013

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 from notes. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a bunch of fruits, citrus, tropical notes favoring pineapple, cinnamon, ginger, tons of sweetness that probably offsets the alcohol a bit, holiday spice, nice to try but I wouldn’t drink a bunch of this by myself.

Bottle opened during the Christmas Movie Marathon on 12/20/14. Clear amber in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of candy, Belgian esters, malt, pineapple and slight herbs. Malty and candyish sweet flavor with pineapple accents before a peppery yeast finish.

Had in cellar for two years.....can really smell the pineapple. Little to no head, and no lacing at all. Picking up a lot of citrus and pin able in the taste....very interesting beer. Glad I had it.

Poured from a 750ml bottle. I thought for sure this would be an oxidized mess. It is fantastic. The aroma is sweet, some cooking spices, fruity. The flavor is slightly tart, cinnamon, ginger, soft bready malt character. There are signs of oxidation, light cardboard, mustiness. I would drink this sooner then later.
