Some sour aroma. Amber coloured and hazy in appearance. Strong in alcohol with a little dryness in a crisp and slightly sweet malt finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. A murky deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, caramel, spices, and pumpkin. The flavor has of over ripe fruits, pumpkin, malt, caramel, cinnamon, and some wood, leading to a lightly acidic woody and fruity finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. dark amber colorued. Unclear. Dense brownish head. Loads of vanilla and bourbon in the aroma. Maybe too much. Some sweetness, alcohol and spice notable. Flavour again is dominated by vanilla and bourbon. Fruits, syrup, caramel and herbs notable. Medium to full bodied. Ends on a vanilla/bourbon note. A bit one sided and the bourbon age too dominant, but still quite nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2009 Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of JohnC. Pours an opaque orangey brown with a tiny off-white head. Distinct bourbony aroma. Solid body, a little tired mouthfeel. Low in carbonation yet quite a bit livelier than the original! The syrup and sweet spices are still there but are generaly overpowered by the wood. Sweet and alcoholic finish. Delicious. 231109

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
#800! Pours a hazy amber with no head. Nose is bourbon, fresh wood, candied yams, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, booze and ripe fruits. Flavor is mild bourbon, earthy wood, sweet yams, slight musty oxidation, aromatic pumpkin pie spices, huge sweet malt backbone, rich chocolate covered cherries. Phenomenal beer. One of the best barrel aged beers I have ever had. It lends itself perfectly to that style.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to Kan for sharing this. Poured a murky brown with small off white head. Aroma was sweet potato, spice and a bit of bourbon. Taste is more sweet potatoes, spice, brown sugar, and a touch of bourbon. Overall fairly light on the barrel character. Nice beer, a good one for fall for sure.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2010 750ml bottle from johnc. Thought I had recorded this one from Friday night but apparently never saved... Poured a medium cinnamon/amber brown without much of a head... Inviting maple aroma of sweet potato, nutmeg, spice, and bourbon... Flavors were much improved from the original batch of autumn maple and this time with some carbonation with obvious notes of yams, maple, light, spices, and bourbon barrel aged notes. Thin to medium bodied. Pretty tasty.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750mL bottle, courtesy of iowaherkeye. Thanks, Joey! Pours a slightly green, oily, yellowish-brown color; thin off-white head with minimal lacing. Gorgeous, gorgeous nose; very generous, sweet bourbon and lightly charred barrel character; touches of caramel apples, oily, no alcohol, honey; awesome. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: nicely warming bourbon and sweet vanilla notes; touches of sour mash; oozing honey and brown sugar; minimal alcohol; just a huge improvement to the standard version of this beer; great barrel notes. Gorgeous and well-presented. Lasting finish: brown sugar, sweet bourbon, vanilla, and viscous, oozing barrel notes; nicely toasty at the far end.
