Big thanks to BenC for this bottle. Pour is murky reddish brown with thin tan head, aroma has notes of vanilla, yam, caramel, toffee, some slight spice, some molasses as well. Taste is nice mix of vanilla, slight wood, bourbon, caramel and toffee, some slight yams and spice notes, finishing slightly sweet and dry. Much much better than the regular, the bourbon compliments the yams well.

Tap at The Bruery thanks to BMan1113VR! Pours clear deep ruby, nice lower foam. Nose is cherry candies, big twizzlers. Taste is bigger spiced yam, denser sweet potato comes through in a barleywine type of base beer. Heavy dessert beer density. Not cloying though with some good flavors detracting from all the sugar.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from fullobs. í11 bottle on Thanksgiving í13. Cloudy toffee brown. Boozy bourbon dominated nose with some earthy gourd/sweet potatoes. Booze, earthy gourd, some rye spice and worthiness, and very light pumpkin spice, more booze. Worked good with a combo pumpkin/pecan pie but a little was enough. Just too boozy, unbalanced, and not as rich and full on palate as I expected. We didnít come close to finishing the bottle between 4. Shame.

Had this on Thanksgiving. 750ml bottle from the Bruery. Pours reddish brown. Well balanced aromas of toasty malts, wood, Bourbons, and caramels. Slight wood sourness along with all the mild sweet malts, Bourbon, and toffee. Perfect balanced flavors. Finishes with a bite and is warming. Very good!

Wow! This beer knocked me on my ass! It wasnít what I expected at all. Super sweet, with hints of raisins, resin, and syrup. Very complex and the alcohol content is hidden nicely. Highly recommend!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2013 bottle. Oddly sour nose of vinegar, sour mash, spiced yams, caramel, some burnt sugar, and light oak. Pours a slightly hazy dark ruby-brown with no head. Delicious taste of maple syrup, moderate bourbon that provides the right amount of booze, sweet brown sugar, toffee, and light caramel. Medium body that holds on well to the barrel-aging. A gorgeous beer all around.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark thick pumpkin amber with a smaller beige head. Aroma brings big earthy yams with a subtle spicy sweetness. Flavor brings the earthy yams with a unique off sweetness and some malty amber endings. There is spice from the rye casks as well, especially lingering on the palate.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
My buddy Mike was so generous in sharing this with me. I love the yam/pumpkin thing. The yam isnít so in your face. Pours a hazy amber with no head. Nose is bourbon, fresh wood, candied yams, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, booze and ripe fruits. Flavor is mild bourbon, earthy wood, sweet yams, slight musty oxidation, aromatic pumpkin pie spices, huge sweet malt backbone, rich chocolate covered cherries. One of the best barrel aged beers I have ever had.The barrel characteristics really dominate. Rich creamy caramel and wood. Medium body. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours murky opaque brown with a small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is bourbon and very malty - toffee, molasses, dried fruits. Flavor is much the same, really seems like a different beer than the original with the tannic yamminess fading into the background to be replaced with a bourbon maltiness. A bit of spices still show through to provide some complexity. Medium sweet, some woodiness but no real astringence. Full body, creamy. Quite tasty.

Bottle 750ml @ The Bruery, Placentia, CA
Pours clear dark brown with a few off-white bubbles. Aroma has notes of malt, toffee, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, oak, cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, oak, vanilla and toffee finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
