Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 8, 2009 This beer is a cloudy orange-brown color with a medium frothy light beige head that burns away quickly. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma has a variety of spices like nutmeg and allspice over the relatively subtle maple. Medium body with flavors of brown sugar, maple, cinnamon and a touch of yeast. The finish is spices and molasses and a light maple aftertaste. Decent overall. iggynelix (13), Pennsylvania, USA Nov 3, 2009 the spice notes of this were perfect for the cool fall evening. the molasses and yams really come through, but don’t overpower. this was one of my favourite dinner bottles this season. dkachur (2319), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Nov 1, 2009 750 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy brown color with a large tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Very malty aroma with notes of maple, brown sugar, molasses and nutty notes. Taste is squash, molasses, some caramel and nutty notes and a strong tartness. Light spicy notes as well. Medium-full bodied. Interesting, EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Nov 1, 2009 This one reminded of cider. Theres a lot going on fruity sweetness and spiciness on the aroma and in the flavor. Some funkiness. But really just too much going on. Not bad but not my style and very close to being way over the top. lamas (709), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Oct 31, 2009 750mL bottle. A very murky amber pour with a thick British khaki head. A sweet aroma of brown sugar, caramel, maple syrup, yams, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, molasses, and my mom’s Joe Frogger cookies. Big-bodied. Kinda syrupy. The flavor starts off quite sweet with a good deal of caramel, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Yams, molasses, vanilla extract, and honey follow. Finishes with some nutmeg, cinnamon, and a bit of citrus. Warming alcohol throughout. A tasty seasonal. Slipstream (735), USA Oct 31, 2009 Sweet aroma with a touch of skank. A very sweet and malty beer, rich and dessertlike. Brown sugar, maple syrup, and a bit of yam comes thru also. There seems to be something a little Belgian in the flavor as well - perhaps it is the yeast. A good brew, but overpriced at $15 for a 750 ml bottle. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted bread), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of candy/brown sugar, overripe banana, nutmeg/allspice, vanilla, alcohol.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately alcoholic, metallic.
Very sweet, with a rather unpleasant aftertaste and metallic twang. The aroma is pleasant, albeit clearly portentious of the sweetness level. Not a fan. BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 29, 2009 Bottle Pours out a brownish orange topped with a small head. Aroma was of spice, nutmeg, and week old pumpkin pie. Taste was nice lots of sweetness, candy, pumpkin pie, and more spice.
