Commercial Description:
This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

Bottle pours deep copper/amber in color. Thick tan head. Aromas of vegetables, pumpkin/sweet potato pie, molasses and brown sugar. No bitterness but a nice brown body with breadiness, candi sugars, and a nice vegetable body. Tastes similar to pumpkin pie but lighter. Focus on the vegetable and not the spice. Light spice like nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom. Nice take on the "pumpkin" beer.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of yeast, light acetic acid, light yeast, slight spice, slight cinnamon, slight nutmeg, and slight yams. Poured very deep orange/brown in color with a small, tan head that that disappeared. Hazy. Very slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of yeast, slight brown sugar, light yams, light spice, light cinnamon, slight brown sugar, slight clove, slight hops, and a hint of banana. Medium body. Average texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, spiced, cinnamon, yeast, and banana finish. 10%ABV is totally hidden.

[Draft @ Capones] Lightly hazy red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, oak, citrus, and wild yeast. Taste of nuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, some molasses, starch, and a little tartness in the finish. A spiced "sour", kind of weird, along the lines of something Bullfrog would do.

Draft at Capones. Pours a slightly hazed brownish red with a smaller off white head. Aroma was nice with notes of cinnamon, all spice, yams, maple syrup, brown sugar and even a slight hint of nutts. Fuller bodied that is both syrupy yet smooth, slightly bubbly carbonation and a very well hidden ABV especially for a 10%er. Flavor is just a s complex as the aroma and the yams give a nice touch that is similar to pumpkin but just different enough to really set this beer apart. Very nicely done and would love to find some more of this one.

Pours a dark burnt orange/coppery brown color with dark amber hues when held up to a light source and a .5 finger light beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Very earthy and spicy aroma with a strong vegetal presence. Lots of brown sugar and cinnamon spice with molasses, honey and a prominent vegetable note. Lots of yam. Crisp and heavily carbonated mouthfeel with a huge spice character and earthy vegetable presence. Full bodied with a nice sugary honey/molasses presence and a spicy dry finish. ABV is very well hidden. Once again the flavor is dominated by a strong spicy and vegetable presence. Lots of brown sugar, cinnamon, molasses, honey, earthy hops and a huge yam/sweet potato characteristic. Alcohol is almost undetectable with a very subtle hop presence. This is a very unique complex beer in which the extreme variety of flavors balance each other out quite nicely. Never to spicy too yammy which is a good thing. It kind of reminds me of a liquid Thanksgiving.

mild sweet alcohol aroma. Cloudy golden brown, no real noticible head. Hints of banana, spice, alcohol, and yes yams. Nice beer, not too sweet.
