This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

Copper color with white head. Aroma is quite sweet with a definitive Belgian yeast spice and dry fruit character. Sweet with the nice dry fruit and spice notes. Tastes like a pumpkin despite the yams with a hint of tartness on the edges. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle from De Molen Beerstore, Bodegraven Netherlands. Pours a dark amber to light brown body with a nice thin beige head. Aromas of honey, caramel, cinnamon, pumpkin (without having any pumpkin added). Taste is very sweet and cloying, with caramel, spices, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cinnamon, some yeast. dull brown pour with minimal clearish head. Notes of chestnuts, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, tobacco, and a slight bit vegetal. An easy sipper with just a hint of booziness on the tail end that is quite enjoyable.

Nice looking deep chestnut brown beer with a thick foamy light tan head. Sweet nose of pumpkin pie spice, roasted root vegetables, and a bit of sour yeast. Flavor is definitely on the sweet side and is reminiscent of baked sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping infused with spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. I wish the hops counterbalanced it a bit more, but this is still a unique and drinkable beer. Too sweet though.

10/4/2014. From bottle. Dark amber with a white head. Yeasty aromas with spices, pumpkin, honey. Yeast is showing in every sip, but is offset by the sweet spicy flavors. The 10% alcohol does not show at all. Very mellow and enjoyable.

"this was a well done spiced ale...no subtleties in the aroma and flavor. there right there front and center. pumpkin pie-ish and strong flavored. the body is a tad over carbonated, but this is a nice beer. the maple aspect is actually in the background and i found myself wanting a little more."
