Commercial Description:
This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

Bottle purchased at Rozi’s. Big beery aroma to match the sizable head that came out on top of this nice dark amber brew. There is a wonderful fall aroma here, lots of smaller notes of clove, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, a tiny bit of caramel and a good bit of earthy scent. The flavor comes off, well, thin. And not like this is watery, but it doesn’t feel like the big 10%’er. It has a full, yet delicate flavor, but it really shines for its balancing act with all of these notes. And I spect them yams really just are there to give some added sugars, and smooth out the goodness.

750 ml. bottle purchased at Greens on Buford Highway. Nice looking spice ale I must say. A somewhat dark brown orange color. The beer has a nice thin head that fades away rather quickly. I can definitely smells the yams. Lots of spices dancing in my nose. Nice cinnamon spice along with some soft fruits. Smells like a Thanksgiving day dessert. Very pleasant aroma. Spices come through at first. The cinnamon and yam come through as well and hit the back of my throat. This is a fairly spicy beer. Not a very creamy palate. If they would have kicked up the palate a notch in terms of texture, this beer would be amazing.

750ml bottle. Hazy brown orange, unfiltered and nontransparent. Very spicy aroma, obvious Belgian yeast, muddled fruit variety. Easy and sweet on tongue, spicy flavors dominate ending with sweet yam combo, Spices I noted are cumin, nutmeg and light cinnamon, among others.

750ml bottle. Pours dark red with a nice puffy off white head. Aroma is spicy belgian yeast, slightly squash/pumpkin/sweet potato, nice. Flavor is very spicy with a warm cinnamon, apple cider note that is nice. This isn’t the normal watery amber ale that smells like cinnamon that most pumpkin style beers turn into. I don’t think I could drink a lot of this. Certainly several people could enjoy a bottle. Sticks out in the style.

Bottle. Opaque light brown pour with a medium beige head. Cinnamon aroma with a slight note of barbecue sauce, brown sugar and molasses. Sweet and yeasty flavor up front, quickly giving way to spicy cinnamon and clove. For a sweet beer, has a very nice dry finish that is slightly bitter. Well done.

tasting sample. pours a dark brown with a small off white head... pumpkin, spice, nutmeg nose... medium round body with more spice, cinnamon and some malt... the use of yams is quite unique... and there was a touch of sweet potato in there... didn’t really pick up on the 10%... great sweet blended finish of all of the above... a true meal in a bottle... excellent fall / thanksgiving beer from a great start up brewery.
