Pours a thick, dark copper. The Yams give this beer a very full body. Aroma of Cinnamon and Vanilla. Easy to drink despite the full body. At over 10% the beer’s characteristics hide it’s alcohol content very well.

Draft 10 oz pour at Malt and Vine. Paid almost as much for this as the bottle is, because I’m an idiot. Bright cloudy orange pour with a thin fizz head. Big time sweet aroma with nape and vanilla. Sugar sweet, maple, brown sugar, and a cool finish. Interesting.

Sweet and complex aroma and taste, but very much up my alley. Heavy on the sweet components - caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, maple syrup - with a very smooth mouthfeel. Excellent.

Bomber thanks to one of the three cousins in the bario. Leafy nose. Light booze upfront and syrupy. Slight spice and milk chocolate.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Murky amber color with beige head. Aroma is spicy, somehow like a pumpkin pie. I get cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Taste follows with the same spices and sweet malts. Aftertaste is more bitter but still spicy. Slightly boozy but overall quite enjoyable.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: pours with a very large light tan head, the beer is a very cloudy dark amber color, head settles into a nice density
Aroma: plum, bread, a bit faint
Taste: mild sweetness, bitterness on the finish, plum,
Palate: soft carbonation, heavy mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste
Overall: drinks like a trappist beer almost, hides the very high abv decently, not bad but I don't need another

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big bottle from Casanova in Hudson with commonmac. Light burgundy with fast fading white head and medium high sediment. Some sweet and yeast and brown sugar. Sugary, some yeast funk, then some tartness and spicy late. High alcohol taste which grows as it warms. Nice Belgian feel. Body is nice, some syrup. Didn?t have the typical fall spices, which was a refreshing change. Unique and good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big bottle purchased a few months back at Casanova in Hudson. Consumed with commonshawn in a Moeder Lambic. Aroma has strong Belgian notes...yeast, brown sugar, and a little funky fruit. Minimal quickly dissipating head. Murky copper brown with sediment presence. Mouthfeel is rather thin with substantial alcohol warmth. Little bit of sour fruit but predominantly Belgian sugars. At times I’m getting a mix of yams/sweet potatoes with pumpkin pie spices. Finish reminiscent of Belgian sour brown varieties. Nice way to end a Minneapolis autumn. Be careful with this Maple, she packs a punch.
