This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of spices, pumpkin, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, pumkin pie, cinnamon, and other spices, leading to a dry spicy finish. The alcohol leaves a slight burn in the throat.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy deep amber with basically no head. Sweet and syrupy nose with a distinct spiciness - although a little hard to define what spices. Very solid body, basically no carbonation. Accents of pumpkins and cinnamon - hard to grasp that no pumpkins were used! Warming alcoholic finish. Interesting. 231109

Brown ale. Another low carbonation beer from Bruery. Sweet start with ginger and something else (yams?). Also has a sweet mid but very hard to pin down. The unusual mix of inredients are well blended giving an overall quite unique and pleasing taste. The finish is also sweet and aromatic. A little carbonation would not go amiss!

750 ml bottle at Proof in DC, shared with Laura from Germany. Hazy brown, tan head. Aroma of caramel and light spice. Very sweet taste, the maple really comes through, as well as nuts and wood. Not bad if you like sweet beers.

Delicious. I love what is happening here. Had some on draft at Rattle n Hum in NYC. Big nose of spiced pumpkin/yam. Pleasing maple-red hue with an easy, slight white head. Taste is sweet, rife with pumpkin and yam and notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as a hint of maple syrup. Very smooth, especially considering its ABV. Finishes nicely with a marvelous, rich aftertaste.
