COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

Clear amber color with okay head. Sweet cookie flavor and too alcoholic, but then again it is a strong beer. xmas like.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond shop. Hazy red-brown with a small off-white head. Aroma - maple, clove, caramel and spices. Taste - sweet, batata/yam , fruity, spicy, maple, vanilla, quite boozy. Medium-full bodied. Quite heavy.

Weird specialty ale brewed with yams, molasses, maple syrup and herbs - claims to be Belgian in style, but I don’t know anything comparable here. Yellowish white, creamy, stable head, dark copper brown colour, clear but misty after adding the deposit - so far the comparison with Belgian bottle fermenting tradition goes. But then the aroma: maple syrup indeed and a lot of it, cloves, meat stock, chocolate liqueur, fried tomatoes, aniseed, madera, peaches in syrup, candi sugar, Worcestershire sauce... Tastes sweet candi- and clove-like with pear- and banana-accents, oily mouthfeel, smooth, syrupy and still a little bit thinnish for some reason, nutty and chocolatey maltiness, middle phase very spicy (star aniseed, cloves again), creamy finish with peppery hops, warm alcohol of cognac or sherry and again the sticky sweetness of the maple syrup, just a bit too cloying for me.

Muddy reddish pour with a fizzy off white head that dissipates. Aroma is candied yam and holiday spice. Flavor is dark sweet bread, mild maple, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, yam. Moderate warming sensation combined with spice creates a lively, very pleasant mouthfeel. So tasty and unique, this is the bruery at its best, pulling off a beer that sounds gimmicky with tact.

A delicious desert beer that is perfect after Thanksgiving dinner. Very sweet, but carries behind the sweetness is a stout finish.

Malty surary aroma, very light carbonation no head. very sweet...hung around mouth too long. Good flavors but just a little too sweet for me. May be that is what was intended. May be with some age it may dry out.

At Zeebra II. Slight hazy body, light brown in colour. No head on my glass. Aroma of spices, mostly cardamon, a bit of grass. Somewhat weird taste, again cardamon and spices. Thin body, low carbonation. Dry palate. Overall a bit weak, expected more.

Backnote, had this beer at the zeebra extreem beer festival 2014. something off in the taste, strange sweetness (pumkin? but really chemical)

I like experiment, but unfortunately this one didn’t work. The maple is too sweet and stingy. Could use some modifications.

Sampled @ Zeebra 2014. Salmaniak taste, slightly. Peachy, pumpkin as well. Remarkable beer, different than most other beers at the festival. Taste lacks a certain depth, it’s only the pumpkins, no layers in it.

Bottle from Homer... Thanks?? Pours amber. Smells like a cranberry lambic. Is that right? Totally taste like a cranberry sour. No way this is a yam beer, maybe yam covered in lacto, mixed with Brett and cat piss. Better luck next time, will need to try as designed.
