From The Bruery:

“For our first local collaboration beer of 2013, we teamed up with our good friends at Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach, CA. We’ve worked with these folks on a number of small batch brews, beer dinners and general shenanigans for many years and it was really exciting to sit down and work on a full scale project with them for the first time. What we ended up with is an imperial smoked stout, but of course it wasn’t that simple. We smoked our own malt on the same smoker and with the same blend of three different woods that Beachwood uses for their award winning BBQ - apple, white oak and pecan. We then aged the beer on those same three types of wood. The resulting stout is hearty and wonderful, balancing the rich, meaty smokiness with the sweetness of the malt.”

Bottle shared at Moeder Lambic Fontainas by Dennoman, thanks Dennis. Black pour with creamy brown foam. Aroma is roasty, quite smoky, nice toasted wood aroma, some cocoa notes, mesquite. Taste is roasty, powdery cocoa, some meaty notes, burnt toast and smoke. Palate is full bodied with nice carbonation, not too heavy. Nice beer.

Thanks Gription79. Black, opaque, thin light brown head. Aroma of deep malt, licorice, roast, dark fruit, a baconlike smokiness. Flavor is again huge malt, licorice, toffee, roast, big smoke, light tar-like note. Big on the smoke, but I like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is the beer that Black Tuesday should be. Rich, smart and fully realised. Lots of big burnt and smoky flavours, chocolate, vanilla, toffe, roast. A full body. All flavours well integrated and in sync. World class.

Pitch black color. Huge smokey nose, massive cherry and roasty notes. Big roasty and huge smokey mouth, big flavors everywhere. Big body. Tons of roasty and huge smokey finish. Just big and bad ass and nothing overly complex, but delivered what was promised by the description. Love it.

Poured from a 750mL bottle into a snifter. Aroma has a moderate smoke note with a fairly strong oak character. Some light bitter chocolate notes. Light dark fruit notes of cherry, fig and prune. Pours black with a moderately thick light mocha head that steadily recedes to the edges where it lingers. Medium lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately chocolate forward with some bitter chocolate notes. Medium light smoke note with light oak character. Medium low bitterness. Finish has light smoke, oak and moderate chocolate notes. Light alcohol spice in the finish as well. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and slightly creamy with medium low carbonation. Low to medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall an enjoyable beer with a really nice mouthfeel, but the astringency is a bit strong as is the oak and smoke. Its rough on the edges but otherwise pretty good.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, and mild smoke, not in your face. Taste is smooth, chocolate, smokey, but mild. Almost sweet. Tasty, and not overly smokey
