Another brand new sour ale! Beauregarde is our first ever use of blueberries and we couldn’t be happier with how this beer turned out. We added an incredible amount of fruit to our barrel aged, sour blonde ale and the result is just as expected. A lovely shade of reddish purple with flavors of tart blueberries, just in time for summer. Perfect along side a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

"Another nice sour from the Bruery. Lots like Sans Paigie in look, feel, and maybe base...aggressive lemony sourness, lactic feel. The blueberries are maybe a touch better in this particular format than the cherries, but pretty comparable. Juuuust enough sweet to cut through the sour and tart. Lasting impression. I hope I get this again."

2013 bottle. Lactic acid is the dominant aroma and it’s joined by tart blueberries and balsamic vinegar. Pours a gorgeously clear medium purple. Nice acidic taste of lactic, dry oak and very tart blueberry with a bone-dry finish. Light body, prickly texture. A darn good fruit sour.

Poured from a 750mL bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with a nice blueberry character. Light acidity with a nice, light oak character. Some raspberry and cassis notes as well with a hint of tropical fruit. Pours a somewhat clear, reddish copper color with a small, moderately thick, slight tan head that recedes quickly to the edges. Flavor is moderately acidic with a nice lactic character and a hint of acetic acid. Medium light notes of blueberry with some other berry notes. Light oak character and a hint of tannins. Faint tropical fruit and faint bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice sour beer with a good berry character. Blueberry notes are nice, but not super jammy and overpowering. Decent, complimentary oak notes.

750 ml bottle to taster (shared by brew3crew). Looks good; a cloudy blueberry flesh with very light pink head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; blueberries and a bit of funk. Tastes like it smells with a nice, tart mouthfeel. What seems to be some lacto. Good stuff.

Bottle thanks to John. Hockey Pool box. Pours hazy reddish purpose with pink white head. Nose/taste of blueberry, oak, lacto and vinegar tartness and puckering acid. A bit too sour for my preferences. Lighter medium body.

Ugly gray blue in the glass. Cloudy hazy. Sweet salty and very lacto driven. Light berry flavors. Medium effervescence but cutting acidity. Interesting and somewhat balanced

bottle shared by tom10101, thanks! pours hazy if not cloudy red purplish with a small off-white cap, some retention, shy lacing. acidic more than tart berries, bit of red fruit jam or jelly perhaps, oaky - vanilla, tingling acetic and almost puckering citric from fruits, astringent grape seeds. moderate carbonation, light body, dry fruity-citric-acetic-grassy finish. not that much depth - miscellaneous red fruitiness and puckering.

Bottle 750ml. Pours slightly hazy pink/reddish with no head. Aroma is of fruits, wild yeast, cherries, cool aid, blueberries. Taste is of fruits, acidity, sourness, blueberries. Palate: Light-medium body. Medium carbonation. Overall: Mouth puckering. Good fruits, but a tad too heavy on vinegar (not drinkable).

Bottle shared by tom10101, thanks! Pours a nice purple with no head and thus no lace. Nose is fruity little but plainly acidic and full of vinegary notes. Taste is also fruity but almost bracingly acid. Not too complex and I’d be lying if I said that I tasted blueberries. Body was light, carbonation level medium and all the acetic acid burns a little. Not bad in itself, sour and all but pretty simple and just too sour for its own good.

Bottle (750 ml). Courtesy of AdamJackson, thanks! Bright pinkish/salmon color with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is dominated by berries along wooden notes, acidic presence and light funky notes. Taste is moderately to heavily acidic with a lot of berries again, strong wooden notes, subdued funk and floral notes. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Not as acetic as most The Bruery sour, but still a tad too much. It’s not the most complex Sour beers, but it’s rather enjoyable. It was also a nice component of a couple of blends we tried during the tasting.
