3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2013 2012/2013 batches from notes. 2013 consumed by myself on a Thursday. 2012 was with friends in a group tasting.
A - Looks just like chocolate rain in appearance. Pitch black, very oily with alcohol legs. no head.
S - Nose was full of burnt oak, liquor and chocolate.
T - aste was similar as CR but with a lot of boozy burn. Very little refinement compared to itís beefier longer-aged counterpart. More cigarette butts and tobacco. Very little chocolate and very boozy throughout.
M - Pretty thin, insanely sweet looks like syrup swirling around the glass..makes me think someone should ice this into a 50% super sweet mess.
O - I prefer Chocolate rain and will likely prefer Grey Monday. Itís good but the booziness and sweetness wears on you after a pint.

Lots of bourbon. Maybe the most bourbon of any beeer ive had. Like a stronger bourbon county. Quite a bit of sweetness in there as well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from International Trade; dark brown pour with zero head, mostly bourbon aroma, thick viscous mouth feel, very big bourbon taste, some roasted malts, I appreciate the beer, but a bit too much bourbon for me.

Thanks to my good friends...The Beards...for busting out a 2009 Bruery release bottle at a home brew party last Sunday. Pours a very dark, opaque and thick in texture like syrup. Small snifters. Thin head diminished immediately and no lacing. The aroma was...WOW! Spices, wood, vanilla, dark fruits, and roasted malts. The taste was very complex with oak, vanilla, spices (nutmeg and anise), roasted malts, and raisins. Very smooth mouth and very full body. Finishes smoky and thick. Wjhat a treat from 2009!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from GAManiac. Thanks much! Dark brown to black pour with quickly fading tan head. Nose is big. Big boozy bourbon, vanilla, sweet caramel, chocolate, and some mild soy sauce. Flavor follows suit with sweet vanilla, caramel, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and bourbon. While boozy, definitely much smoother than I would have imagined. Mouthfeel a bit thinner too. A treat, but glad I was able to share with family and friends.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2010 bottle: pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a few stray light tan bubbles. Has a rich sweet dark caramel malty nose with lots of dark chocolate and raisin notes. Starts with a chewy rich sugary dark malty sweetness and lots of dark fruits and some warming complexity before a sticky sweet dark chocolate finish. Has good complexity and the sweetness isnít too over the top if youíre in the mood for dessert, but this should really be sold in 6oz / 187ml bottles for a more manageable sampling.
