4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Super inky black color (as expected). Thick & with viscous lacing left around the glass. Thin layer of tan head.
Aroma is almost pure bourbon - it comes through so strongly that you really can’t pick up much of anything else (possibly some hints of vanilla).
Flavor is a bit better with the maltiness fighting its way through the bourbon a bit more than in the nose. The sweetness makes itself known as well. Not bad by any means - I just prefer a bit more complexity.
Mouthfeel is great - the thick feel of this one really works well for this beer.
The finish is (not surprisingly) very strong and boozy - can’t imagine I’d be able to put way too much of this stuff - its a big bold bourbon bomb of a beer so if you like that sort of thing you will LOVE this.
Recommended, but maybe a bit underwhelming - just not as complex as I’d hoped for - maybe with more time the bourbon would chill out a bit and mingle in with the other flavors but for me that overly bourbony aspect detracted from my overall enjoyment of the beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle (2012) shared by Dan! Much thanks bro! Poured black with a small fast fading khaki head of foam. Aroma is strong bourbon, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, dark fruit, and hints of toasted marshmallow. Taste of bourbon, oak, sweet dark fruits, vanilla extract, toasted marshmallows, and tons of alcohol burn. A few years old and this beer was almost cloyingly sweet, and really hot! Very complex and tasty nonetheless.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an oily, not completely black color with brown-red hints in it, with a small bubbly mohagony head, collapsing to a small lacing. The beer reveals thick alcohol legs after swirling, coating up the edges of the glass.
Offers an intense nose, consisting of scorched cocoa nibs, molasses and an intense warmth, resulting from the Bourbon barrel. Bourbon blends perfectly into sweeter, dark and full bodied aromas, revealing dried earth and walnut shell, topped off by a note of cinnamon and wooden vanilla. Very intriguing and well balanced, promising a huge, warming beer.
Drinks surprisingly easy, don’t get me wrong, you can tell this is a big beer, but its Bourbon characteristic is amazingly well integrated into the beers overall taste. Drinks expectedly smooth, with a silk, full-bodied mouthfeel, featuring a long lasting warmth, while the taste evolves throughout, challenging the tastebuds in a pleasant way.
Tastes almost instantly of Bourbon, while its presence in the beer is that fundamental, that it only lends wooden oak initially to a foundation of burned rock sugar, wrapped up in a huge amount of earth and bakers chocolate. Develops a spicy, burning but pleasant bite, being far away fom numbing the palate, together with a present oakiness. Cocoa nibs develop more presence, as do vanilla beans, accompanied by a dry, warming Bourbon burn. Bourbon doesn’t want to leave the palate at all, while milk chocolate and a note of creamy caramel join in, countering the wooden dryness perfectly. Ends with a long lasting glow, wandering down the throat, accompanied by chocolate, oak and a note of cinnamon.
A unique experience without a doubt. We zipped on this all night, and it took me more than a glass to adjust to the huge body of the beer. After that, it has been a real pleasure to drink it, while I can not confirm that this beer has a relatively thin mouthfeel, which is what I read before more than often. It exhibits a strinking depth and complexity, centered all around well entangled Bourbon, which always saves enough room on the palate for other flavors to unfold.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20

75cl bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell, huge thanks to Padraig for this one! It pours a deep dark brown color with minimal brown head. Aroma is big bold sweet with notes of dark chocolate, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, biscuit, raisins, booze. Taste is again bold and sweet, with some alcohol kick. Notes of big dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, bourbon. Bold body with silky texture and fine carbonation. Overall, very tasty and bold, a sipper for sure

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2(!) shared bottles.
Wonderful strong rich aroma with well set contribution from the BBL
Flavor, a bit more BBL but plenty of other flavors too including a strong molasses note.
Well hidden ABV - drinks like ’just’ 10%. Very smooth and mild for 19.2% ABV.
