4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2010 bottle: pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a few stray light tan bubbles. Has a rich sweet dark caramel malty nose with lots of dark chocolate and raisin notes. Starts with a chewy rich sugary dark malty sweetness and lots of dark fruits and some warming complexity before a sticky sweet dark chocolate finish. Has good complexity and the sweetness isn’t too over the top if you’re in the mood for dessert, but this should really be sold in 6oz / 187ml bottles for a more manageable sampling.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours pitch black with a somewhat dark creamy mocha head. Aroma has loads of dates, prunes and raisins, a good deal of roast, your typical barrely vanilla, some port wine and a lot of alcohol. Flavor is huge and complex. All of that stuff in the aroma is there, bitter chocolate, roast, dark fruits, buttery caramel, molasses, and just a huge abundance of everything. Alcohol is surprisingly subdued for such a massive beer. Palate is thick and sticky, carbonation is low but sufficient. Absolutely amazing. Gets better and better the more you drink. Wow.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Hipster big boy perfection. Everything from roast, anise, alcohol, warmth, bubblie, is off the hook. Do not, repeat do not slam this bad boy unless you want to worship the pooper. If you get a chance to get this, it is a must.

Bottle. Dark hue with thick brown head. Aroma is chocolate, figs, toffee, molasses. Thick body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet with a nice astringent following and ethanol finish. Overall this is a great brew!

Awesome beer...Big vanilla caramel and toasty toffee. Such a good sherry like on the back end. Everything is so good about this big brew.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
"viscous, big in every way. the ONLY knock is that it may have been even better at a "restrained" 13 or 14% as opposed to nearly 19% for the 2011 batch. Still, for a beer that strong the alcohol was not overbearing, just a little more of a player than i’d like. Chewy feel...loads of vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, dark fruit, roasted malt, hops (no not really:)). A very nice brew that is definitely overhyped, but that’s not really their fault. another i’m glad i did not pay for :)"

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Big bourbon aroma and very sweet, malty taste. Medium, syrupy body. More like a barleywine than an imperial stout.
