2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sample from Tyler at The Bruery, served at my home brew club meeting. Thanks to Pat and Tyler for bringing this as a sample. Sorry but big and strong doesn’t impress me. Hard to consider this a "beer." Well-brewed and quality is there. After hearing Tyler talk about how this is brewed I understand they go to a lot of trouble to get this to come out this strong and be drinkable. I enjoyed about one ounce but would not wish for more. Just because it’s rare doesn’t make it desirable to me. Mostly tasted like boiled licorice and molasses with hot sweet alcoholic finish.

2014 bottle. Caramel brown pour - surprising light colour for an impy. Aroma is vanilla, oak, mild bourbon. Taste is wowwow - dark fruits galore - prunes and dates. Also booze, mild bourbon, toasty vanilla, marshmallow. Great stuff and genuinely surprising.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by Dwayne at craft ale house. Pours pitch black with almost no head to speak of. The aroma is loaded with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, alcohol. The taste has a load of dark fruit, big chocolate covered cherry, tons of chocolate and obviously a bit of heat. Amazing brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was really boozy. Booziness aside, it had a great flavor. Do not drink this one alone.

Well, this is how I like my imp’s. Thick, black, sweet. A little of vanilla and some booze that gets trough but not to overwhelming after all.
