Imperial Witbier, 8% ABV, sour mashed 1-2 days, and fermented with a blend of Berliner Weisse culture and Belgian Witbier yeast. The beer is barrel fermented in large red wine barrels (132 gal. barrels). Raspberries are added to the beer towards the end of fermentation directly to the barrel, and aged on the raspberries for a minimum of 1 month. The Berliner culture contains souring bacteria and the raspberries will add acidity to the beer. Brewed to commemorate Bottleworks 12th Anniversary.
Originally brewed in 2011. Rebrewed in 2013.

Bottle shared @ Dak’s Black Friday tasting. Murky straw-colored pour with a decent ivory crown. Funky, tart unripened raspberries, acidic, milky, earthy, grassy, sour. Pretty solid brew.

A nice murky straw pour. Very pleasant pretty funk with barnyardy notes and delicious bready tones. Really good.

Bottle, shared by Michael, thanks! Pour is hazy gold, white head, decent retention. Aroma of citrus, wheat, salt, light funk, raspberry. Taste is tart, citrus, peach, raspberry, a bit salty. Palate is light, effervescent, tart finish. Good.

Bottle (thanks to goodbyeohio for sharing)... Poured vibrant, cloudy, pale, pastel-yellow with a moderate white head. Tart, acidic, nice raspberry character with a mild oak presence. Nice yeast flavor and fruity esters with lactic bacteria as the showcase. As it warmed the fruit flavors sort of mellowed and it started to get even more sour.

Light yellow pour. Very sour. All sour. No funk. High carbonation. Thicker than most sours.

Had this at the RB Pgh Halloween Spook-tacular Tasting/Drunkfest fall 2013, nice time at Hornydevil’s place, thanks James & Michelle! Big thanks to beerman6686 Dan for this rockin beer. Funky aroma. Slightly hazy pale yello with a slight tint of brown. Yes, some tartness in there but not too much. It does have some alky attributes forward. Has a warming effect. Coats your mouth and goes down the gullet with the geratest of eaze. Yes that farmy thing is wrapping itself around the mouth. Could do with a little fewer spices.

Lactic tart smell, can tell its sour mash, but very well executed. Appearance is hazy golden with 2 finger head. Taste is quite tart upfront with esters (banana, green apples, pineapple) and raspberry flavor in the middle. Clean sour finish. Thin mouthfeel, no EtOH heat, and high carbonation. Overall excellent beer for the style as well as easy drinking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This one poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. Aroma was of dark berries, lemons, and some wood. Flavor was similar, big Berliner like, raspberries were not there much until we let it warm and it was a completely different beer.

Bottle at Matt’s with friends. Pour is hazy yellow with a small white head and decent lacing. Funky, bretty, pineapple, oaky, light wine, skunky, and grassy aroma. Taste is sour apples, pears, straw, doughy, lactic, vanilla, and chessy with a lightly sour finish. Light body with medium carbonation. Ok.

Bottle @ Matt’s house from our Reserve Society membership. Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with a white head. Coconut, vanilla, light corn, a touch of stomach acid, lemon aroma that honestly smells a bit fucked up. Tangy vanilla, lemon, chewy bland malty, light corn, light white grape flavor. This batch is pretty messed up.
