Received in trade from t0rin0, thanks for hooking me up with a long time want Bobby! Pours a solid dark brown with the faintest of garnet highlights when held to light an impish off white head dissipates almost instantly. Smells of bourbon, wood, and vanilla with a solid shot of ethanol. Chocolate and brown sugar coated raisins and nuts round out the nose. The flavor is sweet up front with a hit of grape an raisins before the onslaught of barrel moves onto my palette. Bourbon vanilla earthy wood and vodka burn their way through my gullet eventually settling into a dark fruity sweet sugary finish that lingers long after every sip. Medium to thick body with a sweet oily coating mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. There’s a lot going on here and most if it is great. I did find the alcohol to be a bit harsh but that didn’t stop me from sipping on this celebratory bad boy all night.

Shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike. The beer is dark chestnut brown with a thin tan head. The aroma offers a pleasant bouquet of vanilla, oak, bourbon, chocolate. Lovely flavor, with additional notes of caramel and toffee. A delightful sipping beer. Light to medium in body with lingering sweet booze and bourbon. A tasty beer from The Bruery. BA2TD still sports the smoothest, most rounded bourbon I’ve ever smelled in a beer. Taste follows suit with refinement across its layers of complexity that is seldom matched by its peers. I am not a bourbon guy at ALL but this is incredible; a perpetual favorite of mine. Dare I say this is my favorite bourbon-forward beer?

750 ml bottle shared by urbancaver @ Jackie O-s. Pours brown with a small beige head. The aroma has big bourbon, vanilla, maple syrup and caramel notes. Some lighter spiciness, dark fruits and toasted nuts come through as well. The flavor opens with big bourbon and vanilla, caramel and dark fruits. More subtle toasted nuts, spices and wood show up as well. The alcohol creeps in at the finish. As this warmed, the flavors really started to pop.

Huge thanks to Amyliz4 for opening this one up next to a bottle of the regular version. Served in a Bruery tulip. Pours a moderately-dark brown with a nice tan head. Spots of lacing. The nose carries really excellent bourbon notes. So smooth, and well integrated with the base beer. Nice dark fruits and moderate sweetness in the background. Still a touch of caramelized character. Flavor isn’t quite as nicely done, but the bourbon and base still meld well. Medium body; quite smooth. Very tasty.

Memory rate.. Dark brown, thin fizzy tan ring for a head. Nose is sugar, peanut butter, light plum, esters. Flavor similar, sweet with light candi, plum, hints of raisin, and gritty body but no off flavors, miracle for this place.

750 ml bottle: Pours an oily dark mahogany with virtually no head, but viscous legs. Has a rich sweet dark caramel and toffee nose with lots of raisins and bourbon. Starts with good fullness and chewy sweet dark caramel with some light fruits and a hint of tartness and plenty of warming alcohol. Could use some more time to age.

Sampled on 1/21/2012. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a dark black brown color from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head, with decent lacing. The aroma is caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, wood and bourbon. A medium to full bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are dark fruit, caramel, chocolate and slightly nutty. The hops are earthy and herbal. Decent carbonation. Lots of dark fruit, lots of wood with a preponderance of bourbon. Touch of alcohol bite. Nice smooth mix of flavors. Excellent sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
