4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle shared as part of #bottlecherwednesday at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. Poured into a tulip. Liquid is very dark, not quite opaque, brown topped by a two finger tan head that settles quickly to a collar. Some spots of lacing, but not much sticking to the glass. Aroma is dominated by barrel notes: bourbon, vanilla, molasses, cocoa, alcohol, and oak. There are also some nutty and malty notes. Taste is sweet malt, brown sugar, vanilla, and cocoa plus some bourbon and alcohol burn. Medium-plus body, slick, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long warming finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is probably my favorite Bruery holiday brew so far and it lends itself to barreling well, already being sweet - and with a body big enough to withstand the barrage of bourbon vanilla and oak. Good stuff!

(750 bottle) clear very deep brown, fine tan edge bubbles. Nose of misty raisins, bourbon, estery, alcoholic, meaty, tart grape. Taste of chocolate, bourbon, alcoholic, raisin, maybe a little tart, big beer, aged decently enough.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured in the Bruery Tasting room on 11/5/13. black color. Big boozy vanilla oak on the nose. Barrel forward, but the complexities show through. Some dark chocolate notes, and a nutty tone. Big dark fruit character, and very easy to drink.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle into snifter; bottle number 5180, bottled in spring 2011. Pours very hazy dark reddish brown color with a small dense light khaki colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, pear, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, oak, bourbon, tobacco, leather, vanilla, brown sugar, light roast, light clove, and toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with big complexity and balance of malt and fruity notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, pear, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, tobacco, oak, bourbon, brown sugar, vanilla, leather, light clove, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, oak, vanilla, bourbon, brown sugar, tobacco, leather, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible balance and complexity of malt and dark fruit flavors; with moderate barrel presence and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden for 14.5%, with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible old ale! Huge complexity and depth of dark fruit and dark malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for 14.5%. An insanely delicious offering.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared by BenC at his going away tasting...thanks Ben! - Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a thin brown head. Huge legs on this one. Pretty boozy nose with hot sweet bourbon and dark malt. Barrel is still a bit overpowering. Taste is sweet, with sugary malt, hot booze, some chocolate, and a touch of spicing. Thinnish and not much carbonation at all. It was a bit of a chore to get through my sample--didn’t like this one very much.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Received in trade from t0rin0, thanks for hooking me up with a long time want Bobby!
Pours a solid dark brown with the faintest of garnet highlights when held to light an impish off white head dissipates almost instantly. Smells of bourbon, wood, and vanilla with a solid shot of ethanol. Chocolate and brown sugar coated raisins and nuts round out the nose. The flavor is sweet up front with a hit of grape an raisins before the onslaught of barrel moves onto my palette. Bourbon vanilla earthy wood and vodka burn their way through my gullet eventually settling into a dark fruity sweet sugary finish that lingers long after every sip. Medium to thick body with a sweet oily coating mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. There’s a lot going on here and most if it is great. I did find the alcohol to be a bit harsh but that didn’t stop me from sipping on this celebratory bad boy all night.

Shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike.
The beer is dark chestnut brown with a thin tan head. The aroma offers a pleasant bouquet of vanilla, oak, bourbon, chocolate. Lovely flavor, with additional notes of caramel and toffee. A delightful sipping beer. Light to medium in body with lingering sweet booze and bourbon. A tasty beer from The Bruery.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
BA2TD still sports the smoothest, most rounded bourbon I’ve ever smelled in a beer. Taste follows suit with refinement across its layers of complexity that is seldom matched by its peers. I am not a bourbon guy at ALL but this is incredible; a perpetual favorite of mine. Dare I say this is my favorite bourbon-forward beer?
