4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at the Bruery Reserve Society Initiation Party. Pours very dark brown with nice brown head. Smell is chocolate, bourbon and nuttiness. Taste is incredibly sweet with chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Alcohol is hidden very well, despite the bourbon smell and taste.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
750ml bottle poured into my De Struise glass... Pours an awesome dark brown, borderline black. A great light tan head that is very bright. Good cap that is isn’t thick but full, spotty lacing... The aroma is FANTASTIC. Salty nuts, wonderful wood, dark fruits, perfect plum notes, some brown sugar... The taste is very nutty and full. Plums, toffee, a hint of oak, light bitter finish from the oak and a touch of alcohol. Almost as good as the nose, not as salty as the nose... The mouthfeel is nice, lightly bitter, nice finish... Super easy to drink.
This is awesome, underrated at this point. Get this.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. The aroma is an interwoven ribbon of caramel, cocoa, vanilla and bourbon. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor offers dried figs, dates and raisins with a gentle splash of bourbon. Tangy, dry, red wine finish with a kiss of cocoa. Big time thanks to giarcsr for shipping me this world class bottle of beer!

750 ml bottle into snifter; bottle number 5180, bottled in spring 2011. Pours very hazy dark reddish brown color with a small dense light khaki colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, pear, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, oak, bourbon, tobacco, leather, vanilla, brown sugar, light roast, light clove, and toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with big complexity and balance of malt and fruity notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, pear, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, tobacco, oak, bourbon, brown sugar, vanilla, leather, light clove, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, oak, vanilla, bourbon, brown sugar, tobacco, leather, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible balance and complexity of malt and dark fruit flavors; with moderate barrel presence and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden for 14.5%, with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible old ale! Huge complexity and depth of dark fruit and dark malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for 14.5%. An insanely delicious offering.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Phoenix Club Bruery event. More -bals from one of the best -ballers out there, and it was actually listed as "-bal aged.". Crazy. Very dark brown with a lasting tan head and good lacing. Awesome aroma, big roast, molasses, toffee, dark fruit, pecans, oak, and chocolate. Flavor is also very righteous and complex. Roasted malt, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruits (plun, raisin), nuts, -bal, and vanilla, with non-negligible booze. Big heavy boozy palate with low carbonation and some booziness. A damn good -bal aged beer overall. One of the highlights of this event.

Bottle generously shared by Sparky...ERIC ROCKS!!! Oh, I could smell this one all day!!! A quick whiff from the bottle makes my eyes roll back in my head...sweet bourbon backbone with loads of molasses, vanilla, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, cocoa, dark fruit and spice (like cinnamon & nutmeg). The flavor of the murky chestnut pour shows lots of raisin, plum, and fig along with bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate, and maple syrup. 13%...really...not hot at all and the only indication would be the nice flavor of bourbon coming through.
