COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our "12 Days of Christmas" winter seasonal ale series. The only golden ale in the bunch, we spiced up the natural pause in the classic song with cinnamon, allspice, and ginger along with the delicious sweet and tangy flavor of pineapple. The barrel aged edition has taken on notable flavors from the time spent in oak, adding a level of burnt wood, sweet bourbon, and under-ripe fruit.

Thanks, Abraham! What a refined, refreshing beer, so well put together in its stark minimalism! Such finesse! Oh wait, sorry - wrong beer. Clear golden amber with a thin, white head that falls off leaving no lacing, this beer has long lasting legs. The nose is a heavy, boozy, sweet blend of vanilla, bourbon and coconut , along with spicy alcohol, fresh green cardamom, sweet syrup and mild pineapple. Medicinal booziness, which actually works because I am fighting a cold. Palate opens with a big, sweet, boozy, messy blend of coconut, bourbon, vanilla and simple syrup; dates and toffee are also present. The mod palate has a stale, canned pineapple character, along with cardamom. Most definitely a chore, this beer has a long, messy finish with cheap booze and some spice. Meh.

Tap at Gingerman. nose is super bourbon and vanilla. Tastes of vanilla through the ying yang and so much bourbon sweetness, if you dig through those two overpowering flavors you may find some canned fruit cocktail, malt, and lemon. Way sweet and boozy. Bit heavy handed.

750 ml bottle RS purchase. Color is different from the standard version. This has a hazy brown color with light ring of head.

Unlike the standard base beer the pineapple is subdued and the flavor is helped greatly by the Bourbon barrel. The spice is also less dominate which is a huge plus. The flavor profile is deeper, mango, Belgian yeast notes, mild vanilla oak and brown sugar. The body is still light just like the standard base brew but less sweetness. The 16 % only shows itself by a light warming after the sip. I enjoy this a lot more than the base version.

Bottle. Unclear orange, no head. Booze, bourbon, golden raisins, vanilla, fruity, unripe berries, leafy bitter. Medium body, oily/sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Raw and boozy. No thanks.

Bottle shared at the RBESG ’14, Grander Tasting @ Moncada, 09/08/14 thanks to our Kenny. Hazed orange amber with a moderate off white swirl and edgeing. Nose is spice, subtle BA wash, earthy, bitter orange, pumpkin notes, woody tones. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, sweet, rich booze notes, canned tropical fruits, trace of oaky bourbon. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok, hides the 16% very well but ultimately doesn’t deliver the flavours to justify the ABV.

ZOMG RARE -BAL TICK!!! Had this on draft (!!!what a tick!!!) at 38 Degrees. Slightly hazy orange-copper with no head. Sweet bourbon, oak, honey, and cinnamon on the aroma. The flavor has alcohol of course, because this is a bruiser, and a sweet spiced flavor besides that. Light fruits, allspice, ginger, bourbon, and oak. Menthol on the finish. Flat as a Lost Abbey beer and boozy as booze itself. Rare, and I respect it for that, but inherently it’s a bit of a hot mess.

Spiced up fruitcake, meet bourbon. Bourbon, meet fruitcake. A cool twist on the original. Not really the type of beer that goes into bourbon barrels. Spices still come through well, though this is very heavily barreled like all the Bruery stuff. Notes of pineapple, vanilla and wood. Not really hotter than the base even with the ramped up abv, though we did drink it colder
