3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bouteille 75cl @ RBBSG III, courtesy of Omgrich.

No head. Slightly hazy. Only a hint of chocolate on the nose. Some toffee and vanilla and bourbon there in the aroma. A big backhand to the face of chocolate, sweet, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, burnt sugar, lingering sweetness and just a touch of heat. Share this. It’s excellent.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/4/2013. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a small foamy tan head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace. Some slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, fudge, vanilla, caramel, toffee, toast, coconut, bourbon, oak, and oak/toasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, vanilla/cocoa spice, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate, fudge, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, toast, toffee, coconut, bourbon, oak, and oak/toasted earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, fudge, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, toast, toffee, coconut, bourbon, oak, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Absolutely insane complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and vanilla/cocoa flavors; with perfect balance of malt/barrel/spice flavors with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is incredible. Alcohol is insanely well hidden with only a light-moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is a world class imperial stout. Perfect balance and incredible complexity of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and vanilla/cocoa spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. An absolutely stunning beer all around.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark brown with slight orange highlights and a small tan head. The smell is booze, dark chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, dark fruit. The taste is chocolate, licorice, booze, dark fruit big and overdone... ending dry and roasty. Thick body with mild carbonation.

Big ups to the boss Motherbrother for sharing this monster! Pours black with a tiny brown head. Aroma is just huuuge! Lots of chocolate, vanilla beans, butterscotch, tons of filled chocolates, marzipan, sweet cherries, intense and deep bourbon notes, sweet dark fruits, marshmallows and overall forbiddenness!! Wow wow wow! Taste of sweet chocolate, vanilla, marzipan, filled chocolates, burnt caramel, butterscotch, sweet bourbon, sweet dark fruits and some booze to keep all the sweetness in balance. If this beer was 10% it would be cloying but the 18,5 and the intense sweetness is giving it an almost port-wineish outcome! I think this beer is a love/hate thing. Wow!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2014 ed. Thanks to Motherbrother. Aroma is PACKED with filled chocoolates, alcohol, bourbon, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla, butter, cherry wine, rum, skumbananer, licorice. Taste is very vinous, and the alcohol really comes to show in a port wine way. Gun powder, little roast, chocolate, rum, filled chocolate, butter, licorice, vanilla. Again this sweet chocolate filled with liqour-cherries. Fat, sticky body with low carb, but a tingling from the alcohol. This is extremely perverse.. And i like it!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 Vintage. 750ml bottle. Poured a black color with brown edges and a smaller sized head. Chocolate, roast, vanilla, some wood, and dark fruits. Alcohol burn in the finish, but 18%+. Sweet, bordering on cloying but not there. Sipper. I would say I’d have had a problem drinking a bottle of this myself, but I drank 90% of this one (shared the rest).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Generously shared by one of the fine Portland RB folks at a tasting - Pours dark chocolate brown with a light tan head. The aroma has alcohol, roast, chocolate and light soy sauce. It has a full rich massive body with mild carbonation. The flavor starts off with alcohol, chocolate and vanilla. The finish is very hot. Nice, but it big and boozy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle compliments of SaulTBauls.
The beer pours black with not much head unless you scare it up with a swish.
The aroma is boozy and chocolaty with a bunch of vanilla. It’s boozy but not in an unpleasant way and has just a touch of soy sauce.
The flavor is very sweet, but in no way sweeter than say Bourbon County Stout, they’re in a similar league as far as gigantic dessert beers go. The beer has a lot of caramel, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, raisin and plum. Mild notes of maple syrup surface as it warms. Of course it’s boozy but it sort of goes with the territory and never comes off as overly hot or vodka like.
Way way better than I had expected, very enjoyable.
