UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 750 ml bottle (2014 release, 18.5% ABV, bottled 12/4/2013) from Preservation Society Q1 poured into a Belgian snifter. Big thanks to my friend Ed for being my shipping trustee. Pours a dark brownish black with half a finger or less of tan head. Head recedes into a ring fairly quickly. Aromas of sweet bourbon, oak, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, some alcohol. Tasting notes of bourbon, milk and dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, coconut, subtle booze. Full body with a warm and mostly dry finish. Low carbonation, thick mouthfeel. For 18.5% ABV, the alcohol is very nicely masked. Would love to try Black Tuesday but this could very well be my favorite barrel aged imperial stout.

Botle share during DLD. Pours a near black with a slight brown head. Aroma is of chocolate syrup and bourbon. Big and boozy like Black Tuesday but this one is a little easier to get through. The small taste is enough for me.

750 mL bottle shared by jackl. Thanks! This isn’t wax. It’s armor. Pours an inky dark brown color with a thin brown collar. Aroma of strong roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, nuts, booze. The taste is sweet chocolate, Tootsie roll, dark fruit, vanilla, roasted malts, booze. Medium bodied, low carbonation, hot, a bit too sweet.

Had this at a tasting. Pours dark black color. Chocolate, brett, vanilla, and roasted malts on the nose; all follow onto the palate. Finishes tart. I could have done without the brett on this one.

Tasting at DLD. Poured almost black with ring head. Strong bourbon aroma over powers any choc. Taste is similar. Lil hot but I like it

Pours a solid black with a brown head and lacing. It has a rich aroma of vanilla and bourbon along with some cocoa. The flavor is strong alcohol, with chocolate and bourbon up front and a slightly malty vanilla and chocolate finish bee a heavy body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 release.
Appearance: Murky opaque chestnut body with no head, just a short tan ring.
Aroma: Big oak aromas with brownie batter and cocoa powder along with hints of booze and coconut.
Taste: Big oak and coconut with semi-sweet chocolate leading to a boozy bourbon finish. Finish lingers of semi-sweet chocolate and booze.
Palate: Big and chewy, mildly carbonated.
Overall: Way too drinkable for a beer this big. Huge flavors and sweet leaning. I could easily enjoy half of the bottle of an hour or two.

This was courtesy of Darren, the proprietor of the LOCAL BEER BAR in Eureka, CA. Poured sark brown, Small tan head. Hose of chocolate and vanilla. Very bold body and exceptionally creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is really rich with chocolate, vanilla, raisins, and bourbon. This is sipper but and exceptional one. Loved this.
