2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured into a snifter, about 6-7 oz. 2011 vintage (batch 2).
3.0 A: Deep brown/black color. Head fell just about as soon as it was made.
4.0 S: Surprisingly, the booze is fairly well hidden, in the the nose at least. Big roastiness, lots of sweetness, but reasonable. Chocolate, vanilla, molasses, and leathery bourbon. Coffee underneath. It’s intense, but it doesn’t have much of the subtlety or complexity that I like to discover in the style.
2.5 T: Big roast, lots of chocolate, caramel, and molasses. Vanilla with oak underneath. Big leathery bourbon. Uncontrolled sweetness and booze, but not quite as bad as BT ’11 was.
3.0 M: Heavy body. Good moderate carbonation. Too thick and chewy though otherwise okay.
2.5 D: This is undoubtably tough to drink and no one in my ’burgh tasting group cared for it.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
August 5, 2012 bottle shared by Brett at his tasting event. Dark brown pour with almost no head. Alcohol, chocolate and vanilla in the aroma and taste. Very thick and smooth, just how I like ’em. Liked this a tad more than BT, but struggled if it was a tenth of a point more. Seriously, Brett’s generosity knows no ends with another huge beer he shared. I am very appreciative to have met such a great guy, just an amazing night!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml to taster (from notes; sampled next to Black Tuesday ’11). Looks good; dark-brown with low carbonation and no real head or carbonation to speak of. Smells good too; sweet, chocolate, vanilla, and malt. Tastes like it smells and boozy with a good mouthfeel. I liked this a lot more than BT.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at Wood Shop 7, 2012. Dirty, brownish-black. Big, barrel-aged nose, lots of vanilla and chocolate, some berry. Very sweet flavor, chocolaty, vanilla. Straight-out sweet—not much roasted flavors going on. Nice, but a little over the top.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear black colour, reddish hue, no head (some floating bubbles). Aroma of dark chocolate, alcohol, roasted malts, tomato paste, coffee, dark fruits, vanilla, wood and burned malts. Slightly sweet flavour, milk chocolate, alcohol, cacao, slight roasted malts bitterness. Very full body, creamy texture, finish chocolate and alcohol.
Hefty. Brilliant dessert beer, which I’d recommend to enjoy in small portions.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle into snifter. Dark brown pour, no head and little to no carbonation. Nose is brown sugar, booze, bourbon and chocolate. Flavor is similar. Very sweet (cloying after the first snifter), coconut, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate and very boozy. Full body, but much thinner than I expected. I split the bottle with a friend, but it became a chore to finish it. Very dissapointed with this beer.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 1 bottle shared at the Woodshop 7 tasting. Compared to the regular Black Tuesday, I prefer this one a lot. The apperance isn’t really any different from most huge stouts: Black, minimal tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma has lots of vanilla and deep chocolate notes but also some bourbon and light oxidation. The huge booze punch I was expecting didn’t hit me at all. Taste is very sweet but it plays well together with the vanilla and the oak. Lots of chocolate as well. Full bodied with low carbonation and really viscous mouthfeel. Really delicious.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750mL gold wax shared at Woodshop 7. Pours a full haze mahogany, muddy. Tepid to zero carbonation. Nose is sweet tomato paste, big milk chocolate, sweet bourbon, dark cherry juice. Taste is very sweet, bourbon heavy, loads of brown sugar. Very sticky and cloying. More like an American Strong Ale, no imperial stout character (bitter, roast, hops). More akin to the Firestone Walker anniversary series. Somehow a lighter SRM than Black Tuesday.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at The Bruery's new tasting room. If you told me this was a slightly effervescent chocolate liqueur, I'd believe you. Sweet and syrupy without being sticky or sickening, great chocolate and vanilla notes, and quite the abv wallop!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Just a small beige head on top of a black beer. Nice and full aroma of dark chocolate, warming alcohol, wood/bourbon, vanilla and more. Quite sweet in taste, but held in balance by a soft roasted bitterness. Full bodied, with dark chocolate, bourbon, alcohol, a hint of red fruint (porto) and liquorice. Nice one to enjoy with some friends.
