4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
"CHOCOLATE RAIN." Thanks for whoever was the guy who brought this one on by. This was a boozy, vanilla, chocolate syrup smelling beer. Poured a medium dark, close to black but not quite, color with a tan head. Flavor was about the same, heavy chocolate notes (milk chocolate, not chocolate malts) with a vanilla extract note. Alcohol is most certainly there, boozy, but not terribly boozy like some high ABV beers I’ve had. Glad I tried it, but... there’s no way this can be consumed with any less than 6 people.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
pour is dark chestnut brown with very little thin light tan head. The nose is huge, faint notes of chocolate, cloying sweetness, light ash note, tons of booze and a complete mess. The taste is almost as bad. The booze is overpowering, the sweetness is insanely high, it is completely unintegrated, the faint notes of actual malt body are completely blanketed by the huge abv and under attenuation. It is a burnt sugary mess. The body is thick and heavy, high carbonation. The burn and finish are similar to straight liquor mixed with pure sugar.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tepid mud brown, some large brown gravity bubbles. Nost is ethanol and hershey, hot and cloying, totally offensive in each of the contradictory elements. Flavor the same. What a fucking mess, synthetic and imbalanced, no sign of quality, balance, or even brewing. Hershey shots taste better. And as Chris put... "This is what was intended. This is at its peak."

Flavour is sweet, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, cognac and bourbon, hard roasted malts, coffee, more chocolate, light bitter finish with a little booze. Fullbodied, thick fat mouthfeel. Great and glorious stuff.

Nose is tar, ash, mega sweet chocolate syrup. Charred pavement tar. Mouth is ultra sweet chocolate syrup with a finish of ashed, charred pavement. Not trying to be a dick here, but what do people see in this? Thanks for this -whal tick Chris.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 17, 2012 Bottle; Pour is dark brown with a mild mannered khaki head in this glass; the retention is light, with non existent lacing. The nose is cooca, vanilla, molasses, caramel, and booze honestly. The flavor profile was really impressive out of the gate. It wasn’t initially boozy, but it was very heavy on the cocoa nibs and vanilla near the finish. What I found is that the booze came through later, though. The malt profile is dominant; more caramel, molasses, cocoa nibs, vanilla, dark fruits, booziness... biscuits.... light bitterness. Wow. This is quite the experience - Very nice for what it is
