Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium tan head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong chocolate, wood, booze, and vanilla. Thin mouthfeel with very strong cocoa nibs flavor, vanilla, and roast. Alcohol present as it warms, but not overpowering. Really enjoyed this one, a very impressive imperial stout from the Bruery.

Bottle for rating #4800.   Big thanks to 50belair for the trade!   Nearly black, deep deep cola, thin whispy tannish head, sparce vinous like lacing.   Looks like an aged stout in its pour and appearance.   Big port/cognac/sherry nose, chocolate, caramel, faint vanilla on the nose.   Smells big, very big, and alcoholic.   Very warming up front, port/cognac like at first.   Deep chocolate emerges in the middle, with a dash of vanilla towards the back.   Sweet, almost syrupy, and thankfully not cloying.   This is a sipper!   A bit of chocolate graham cracker and dark pitted fruit really emerge as it warms.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Warming finish, lingering heat, cognac/sherry, with sweet dark chocolate, figs, dates, prunes, and raisins.   Great stuff, and a tad better than an already good beer, Black Tuesday.   Thanks again Matt!

Bottle. Chocolate, ash and alcohol aroma. Black with small head. Sweet chocolate syrup malt and moderately bitter herbal hops flavor. Moderately alcoholic finish. Nice dessert drink (went well with a Little Debbie’s Dunking Stick).

Bottle share at DLD. Creamy chocolate, light coffee, molasses, and prune aroma. Murky brown with a small tan head. Creamy sweet chocolate, brown sugar, light coffee flavor. Full creamy body, light carbonation. A big thanks to the guys from LRBeer who shared this one.

b2 Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt III: Brokeback Edition. The pour’s deep brown with red highlights. The nose is cocoa, cinnamon, light creamed coffee and chocolate caramels. The taste is cocoa and vanilla. Nut pie. Fudge cake. Light char in the finish. Nice sweetness that doesn’t feel as out-sized as Black Tuesday. Smooth, full body. Overall, I felt this was markedly better than Black Tuesday when we drank them side by side. Interesting.

Bottle at Stout 3 & Freestyle Tasting, thanks to Bruce. It pours dark brown with a minimal off-white head. The nose is pretty sweet....rich chocolate, caramel, fudge, coconut, vanilla, oak and brown sugar. The taste is chocolate gateaux, intense sweetness, roasted malt, sweet coffee, earth, wood, vanilla and alcohol warmth. Full body, light carbonation and thick, oily mouth-feel. Not a whole depth of flavour, just god damn sweet. Glad to try it, but I just don’t find it very drinkable.

Bottle at the Stouts Pt. III & Others Tasting - London. Thanks to Bruce for slaying this whale. Pours dark, red-brown with barely any head, just a bit of beige cream. Lots of chocolate syrup in the nose, plenty of toasted sugars, heavy bread, so,e cake, light vanilla. Hugely sweet flavor, lots of sugary dark chocolate, plenty of boozy sting, maple syrup, chocolate cake. Supremely full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Hot finish, plenty more heavy sugars, rich chocolate cake, mild vanilla, cocoa powder, moderate earthy bitterness. It is damn, damn heavy stuff, but in its way it is quite enjoyable. Enjoy it the way you would a dessert wine.

Pours like oil with an abruptly fading head that lingers in swirls. Amazingly rich chocolate and vanilla aromas with huge complexity, there’s so much to pick up in this. Amazing mouthfeel with chocolate, vanilla, coffee, dates, raisins, and wood. Perfect.

A - Dark black with a bit of brown around the edges and a touch of khaki-chocolate colored head. Fades very quickly. S - Roasted chocolate and dark caramel malts, cocoa nibs, Bourbon, oak, lots of vanilla, black licorice, coffee, dark fruits, and some booze. T - Roasted chocolate and dark caramel malts, cocoa nibs, Bourbon, lots of vanilla, oak, black licorice, molasses, dark fruits, coffee, and booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a warming and sweet finish. D - Super bold and complex, and the vanilla beans and cocoa nibs add some more great flavor.
