4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark brown, with a small, light brown head. Aroma is bourbon, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavor is bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, raisins, malt, and caramel. Medium to heavy body. Nowhere near as thick as I expected. Iíve been waiting to try this for a couple of years, and honestly, itís disappointing. Thatís hard to say when Iím rating it a 4.2, but I actually like Black Tuesday better.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared tonight with several friends.
Pours an inky black without much of a head that musters but dissipates quickly. The aroma from this glass is heavenly. Deep rich caramel and chocolate with hints of brownie batter, roast, vanilla and a fair amount of alcohol. You can tell this is high in abv from the aroma, but it never seems harsh. The flavor follows the aroma but the alcohol is a bit more evident but it really never harsh. Rich chocolate, vanilla, roast, caramel, and molasses flavors melded into a high abv sipper. This would be an excellent brew to sip with a few friends on a cold night with some cigars or brownies. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. I/we enjoyed the hell out of this beer tonight, too bad I may never see another bottle of this!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Split at a tasting, poured into snifter. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, alcohol, vanilla. Taste blew me away, its everything you expect in a big stout plus a kick of vanilla in your face. I was hesitant on the idea of combining two big flavours but they meld together perfectly. One of my favorite beers of all time

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 10/27/2012. Pours black, thin tan head fades relatively quickly, thin ring of lacing. Thick, rich aroma: big bourbon notes, caramel chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, licorice, espresso grounds, rum raisin booziness. Taste is similar, much more booze evident- hot, spicy booziness, sweet chocolate liqueur, licorice and coffee bitterness, finish is thick, vanilla caramel, bourbon. Thick body, but very hot. Tasty, but take it easy- nice in small doses.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2013 Snifter, on draft at the new tasting room. Surprisingly, much more mellow than even my aged bottles of Black Tuesday have been. Nice notes of cocoa nibs without the overwhelming sweetness of straight BT. A really solid beer, though I wish the vanilla came through more. Look forward to revisiting this some day.
e: revisited, sweet

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Batch 2, 2012 vintage served in a Deschute tulip. Huge thanks again to Andrew (nasty31) for the share.
A: Pours a jet black with a thin tan head forming on the pour. It recedes quickly to a thin ring and leaves some massive legs on the glass after each sip.
S: Big boozy bourbon with some brownie and chocolate covered raisins. The oak is present as well, but is really dominated by the booze.
T: Dark chocolate, boozy bourbon and some woody oak. Dark fruits, mainly raisins and figs are mid palate. The finish is mainly a vanilla sweetness and some warming booze.
M: Slick and viscous. Low carbonation and some warmth in the throat.
O: This beer definitely needs some time. I enjoyed the sweetness from the vanilla but it couldnít quite cut the big boozy bourbon. Iím glad I still have one in the cellar that I can revisit in a year or two.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle courtesy of Shane! Thanks. Split 3 ways. Consumed 9-3, reviewed from notes.
A: Sludge and tar. Heavy pour yields a very thin mocha lacing which will quickly dissipate. Not as viscous in the glass as it first appears.
N: Tons of prune and bourbon. Fudge and soy sauce. The promised vanilla is plenty obvious, and thereís a very good similarity to blackberry brandy.
T: Very much like a port heavily laden with chocolate and cherries. Snapping vanilla and rough dark chocolate similar to mocha powder. Prune and some more of the blackberry brandy. Huge alcohol presence. And oh yes, chocolate deserves another mention.
M: Drying and thick. The drying aspect is somewhat unique as its similar to the way bakerís chocolate scrapes your mouth clean. Donít find this terribly successful.
O: Very glad to try this. Was very intense, but I feel like it could benefit from some more body and less chocolate. And this is coming from someone whoís a bit of a choco-nut.

Opaque black with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla bean, vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, charred wood, and alcohol. Taste of dark chocolate, vanilla beans, wood, bourbon, char, and strong alcohol all the way through.
