4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2014 ed. Thanks to Motherbrother. Aroma is PACKED with filled chocoolates, alcohol, bourbon, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla, butter, cherry wine, rum, skumbananer, licorice. Taste is very vinous, and the alcohol really comes to show in a port wine way. Gun powder, little roast, chocolate, rum, filled chocolate, butter, licorice, vanilla. Again this sweet chocolate filled with liqour-cherries. Fat, sticky body with low carb, but a tingling from the alcohol. This is extremely perverse.. And i like it!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 Vintage. 750ml bottle. Poured a black color with brown edges and a smaller sized head. Chocolate, roast, vanilla, some wood, and dark fruits. Alcohol burn in the finish, but 18%+. Sweet, bordering on cloying but not there. Sipper. I would say I’d have had a problem drinking a bottle of this myself, but I drank 90% of this one (shared the rest).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Generously shared by one of the fine Portland RB folks at a tasting - Pours dark chocolate brown with a light tan head. The aroma has alcohol, roast, chocolate and light soy sauce. It has a full rich massive body with mild carbonation. The flavor starts off with alcohol, chocolate and vanilla. The finish is very hot. Nice, but it big and boozy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle compliments of SaulTBauls.
The beer pours black with not much head unless you scare it up with a swish.
The aroma is boozy and chocolaty with a bunch of vanilla. It’s boozy but not in an unpleasant way and has just a touch of soy sauce.
The flavor is very sweet, but in no way sweeter than say Bourbon County Stout, they’re in a similar league as far as gigantic dessert beers go. The beer has a lot of caramel, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, raisin and plum. Mild notes of maple syrup surface as it warms. Of course it’s boozy but it sort of goes with the territory and never comes off as overly hot or vodka like.
Way way better than I had expected, very enjoyable.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Type: 750-ml bottle (25.4 oz.)
Glass: Sea Smoke oversized wine glass
From: Chris (heresy22 on Beer Advocate)
Purchased: N/A, but received it on May 20, 2014
Consumed: May 31, 2014
Misc.: 2014 edition (18.5% ABV); wax bottleneck
Poured a black color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy tan head, which quickly gave way to a serene setting on the top. Below average-to-minimal lacing on the sides of the glass. Average retention.
Smelled a potent mix of boozy bourbon and chocolate right away. Also got cocoa, fudge, toffee, caramel, Hershey syrup and Rolos candy. Definitely no hiding the 18.5 percent alcohol as it keeps coming in strong.
Initial taste was flat out fantastic. Got cocoa, chocolate, chocolate syrup, cocoa nibs, fudge, toffee, caramel and the Rolos candy. That gave way to a long, warming finish. After the first sip, I could feel it warming down my throat for almost a minute. Not as boozy as the smell for sure. Just so good.
Medium-to-full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish.
Light body. Thin texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, astringent finish.
This beer was so good. I would love to have this again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle in Breck with my Dad. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and great lacing. Huge coconuts, cocoa nibs, light coffee, vanilla, light roast, sweet almonds bars, and nutty aroma. Taste is bourbon coconut, boozy, vanilla, caramel, toffee, nutty, and toasted malt with a light alcoholic burn on the backend. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Decent stout and somewhat hot, but not as bad you would think for 18%.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Capped 750 from The Bruery. Pours very dark brown with a transient dark tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate and a little alcohol. Near full bodied. The alcohol is certainly noticeable, but it’s not a problem. Little heat in the gullet. Flavor is sort of chocolate treacle with lots of vanilla. And lots of chocolate. Every once in a quaff I think there’s some sort of fruit lurking in it. Finishes neither dry nor bitter - except from chocolate and dark malt. That didn’t make a lot of sense! Trying again: It’s not dry, but it is also somewhat bitter. The alcohol may be cutting the treacle aspect somewhat. Very tasty. Likely very deadly.

Bottled @ Zeebra #2, small sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Leaves drops of viscosity along the glass. Thick roasted malts, chocolate. Super sweet in taste, vanilla, mocha, milk chocolate. Alcohol hardly noticeable. Wonderful beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 750 ml bottle (2014 release, 18.5% ABV, bottled 12/4/2013) from Preservation Society Q1 poured into a Belgian snifter. Big thanks to my friend Ed for being my shipping trustee. Pours a dark brownish black with half a finger or less of tan head. Head recedes into a ring fairly quickly. Aromas of sweet bourbon, oak, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, some alcohol. Tasting notes of bourbon, milk and dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, coconut, subtle booze. Full body with a warm and mostly dry finish. Low carbonation, thick mouthfeel. For 18.5% ABV, the alcohol is very nicely masked. Would love to try Black Tuesday but this could very well be my favorite barrel aged imperial stout.
