'13 vintage bottle. The pour is dark. The aroma is sweet and chocolate at the same time. The taste is flat out amazing. The chocolate is soooo good. One of the best beers around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

75cl bottle. APPEARANCE: pitch black beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: coffee, bourbon, very heavy, chocolate, very little smoked, some red fruits, faint coulis, dried fruits, little sweetness there. TASTE: amazing, very dense chocolate, some vanilla, heavy bourbon/liquor like taste, goes to the back of your mouth, where the alcohol is very prominent. Long lasting amazing taste all around your mouth!

The name say it all. But will you be crying tears of joy or pain? It’s that kind of beer. Initial impression is in your face dessert! Way too sweet for me because of the chocolate. Not bitter chocolate. Sweet milky dusty slick chocolate. Too much cocoa and not enough coffee not enough barrel. Too thin. No head. Without the big barrel it doesn’t do it for me. I did a little blending of my own when I poured some Tart of Darkness and Chocolate Rain together now that was tasty.

Tap at Stein’s Bruery Takeover. Pours opaque deep brown, not quite totally black. Small brown head that dissipates with some lacing. Aroma is wonderful, chocolate, whiskey, roasted malts, vanilla. Flavor is medium to very sweet, lightly bitter, very chocolatey with a chocolate vanilla finish. Medium plus body, quite hot, but actually not bad considering the ABV. This is special beer with a wonderful aroma that is worth (most) of the hype around it.

Bottle, many thank to kermis! Pours a pitch black, daunting beer with a small head and no lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and loads of boozyness. Flavour is so much better than the Black Tuesday. Still very boozed up, but the chocolate and vanilla flavours smoothen things out a bit, making it a bit more drinkable. Mouthfeel is oily and boozy. This is a great beer!

Bottle shared by kermis. Pours black with a minimal black head. Aroma of dark caramel, stewed dark fruits and alcohol. Taste is basically kahlua with raisins

Sample courtesy of and shared with kermis. Big thanks. Very thin tan head. Clear black pour. Alcohol and chocolate aroma. Syrupy alcohol raisins taste. Chocolate too. Excellent brew.

Chipalsa (1306) - Florida, USA - JUL 23, 2013
2011 Bottle
Appearance - Murky brown, soft tan head
Aroma - Vanilla, oak, brownies, bourbon
Taste - Bourbon, chocolate syrup, soy sauce, vanilla extract

This was a pretty fun brew, and a heavy hitter as well. It was way too sweet, and once oxidated a bit, tasted a bit like soy sauce. Still, thanks for the experience Jordan mayn.
