A Collaboration with Fess Parker.
Confession is a true collaborative effort between the wine and beer world. A variation of our sour blonde ale, brewed in part by the Parker team, was blended and fermented with juice pressed from Parker’s Riesling grapes, harvested in part by The Bruery team. The result is remarkable. Not quite beer, not quite wine. Fragrant fruit flavors warm the nose, infiltrated by a slight funk from the wild yeast. The first sip is reminiscent of a dry, white wine, but everything changes upon further examination as the flavors marinate and reveal themselves with each gulp.

Bottle thanks to Josh. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong grape, funk, apple skin. Thin mouth, strong pear, white grape, apple, nice sourness upfront with light dry finish, little funky, really enjoyed this one.

Bottle. Bright golden hue with slight haze. Hardly any head, but there’s a bit of visible carbonation. Funky nose. White vinegar and oodles of barnyard funk mix with sweet pear, green apple and peach in a weird, wonderful way. Moderate tartness in the flavor with some bite to it. Lemon, mint, pear, apple. Sweet in the front, acidic in the back. Moderate fizziness, tongue-pinching. Acidity grows and grows. Silky body. A little one-sided toward the sour end. Wine is in there, but it’s overpowered.

Bottle at the Libertine February Bottle Share. Pours a golden orange with no real head. Aroma is a rather nasty funky sock. Taste is a headache inducing white wine with some slight sour notes. Much more wine in this than beer to me. Ouch.

Champagne-like clear golden with strong bubbly head appearance. White-wine-like aroma. Tart and dry; leomony and musty like a fruity white wine. Notes: Denver Rare Beer Tasting ’13

750 ml bottle, thanks Huhzubendah. Pours a headless pale hazy yellow. Aroma is white wine, grapes, grape skins, funk. Flavor is white wine and sour ale. Puckering and tart with white grapes in front. Funky, sour and tart with no acetic presence in the finish. Silky smooth, elegant and delicious.

Bottle... This beer is a baller!… Pours hazed and golden with a tiny, white head that’s gone faster than you can say “quick!” The aroma is a mélange of fallen pluots and plums accompanied by a major component of Riesling grape wine, and only a suggestion of damp, woody funk. The flavor offers a ‘very tart’ to ‘moderately sour’ level of acidity, complex and vinous fruitiness, and a hint of acetic acid. Finishes tart and tangy with a light splash of white wine vinegar. Thanks goes out to richiesd for this bottle of world class beer!

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is very wine like with a lot of grape notes and some fruit. Hints of acidity with grape skin, some red apple cider and stone fruit. Touch of citrus. Pours a very clear golden yellow with a small rocky head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears while being slightly replenished by effervescent bubbles. No lacing and faint attempts at legs. Flavor has a moderate acidity, rather lactic with a faint malt presence. Some light grape skin and wine notes. Some nice citrus notes with some tropical fruit, especially pineapple. Light red apple cider notes with some nice peach and nectarine notes. Light bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a really nice sour beer with some really great fruit character. The wine character in the aroma is a bit overpowering but is well balanced and integrated in the flavor.

Poured from the beer truck at Sucréversary. Yellow with a nice white foam. Lots of green apple, pear, and grape notes. It does taste more like a wine with a fruit astringency. Finish is slightly sour, dry, and refreshing. One of my favorites at the festival.
