100% Cuir 2011. Pours an amber color with sweet malt, caramel, and slight vanilla. Flavors of sweet caramel and malts. Definitely can’t tell this is 100% barrel aged. Amazing.

Pours ruby, minimal head. Smell sweet red fruit, oak and bourbon, vanilla, caramel. Taste huge sweet red fruit, boozy tail, toffee, butter, caramel. Thick and chewy, full bodied. Good

Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Poured a dense nearly opaque leather brown color with no head at all. My nose immediately scented a strong malt backbone aroma on top of scents of maple, brown sugar, cranberry, and oddly enough a reminder of raw cookie dough if my memory serves me correct. Also, there is a strong presence of alcohol that is almost like opening a pharmacy bottle of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. The flavor is a bold serving of sweet malt with thick notes of syrup and a See’s candy coffee chocolate combination. As for the palate, such a thick yet refined mouth feel that keeps reminding how rich an old ale can turn out to be.

100% BA Cuir, rating #300. Pours a murky orange color. Nose is molasses and caramel. Flavor follows with fruit; really tastes like a barleywine. Full mouthfeel and smooth finish. Very good, very sweet.

75cl bottle. Poured a dark hazelnut brown color. Aroma of wood and bourbon (awesome). Buttery, toffee flavor that coats the palate very smoothly. I was really blown away by this beer.

Anno 2011 Anniversary ~ Bottle Number 10014

7/28/2011: The Bruery Cuir (75% ale, 25% ale aged in bourbon barrels)... Aroma: Wow, only 25% might have been barrel-aged, but the bourbon hits the nose immediately; just a bit of caramel maltiness to soften it up so that the bourbon doesn’t dominate; tempered with a hint of vanilla. Appearance: Yummy looking... Deep, dark brunette-amber color with a reverse-cascading dark beige head that’s large and stays around for the duration. Flavor: Really nice rich, caramel maltiness; bourbon-soaked golden raisins, fig, DATES, brown sugar, roasted plum, hint of molasses; fruit-cake nuances; dry, boozy bourbony finish; the incredible thing is that the massive alcohol content is 95% hidden in the flavor (although it does start to vent through the nose as is warms)! Palate: Medium-full to full-bodied; smooth, milky texture; a touch creamy. Overall: Really good; drinks like a bourbon aged Barleywine or MASSIVE Winter Warmer.

Thanks to KieferUGA for this one. (2011 Cuir version) Pours a dark clear brown. This is complex, massive and just awesome. Honestly this came as a surprise it was so good. Deep dark fruits, very fruity, boozy, vanilla, caramel, very sweet (but not in a syurpy way), some oak, malty, cocoa. Very nice.

Bottle from CBX I bought three years ago. Dark golden pour with a pretty, dense white head. Big vinous aroma full of dark fruits, honey, vanilla, burnt sugar, booze and wood. Flavors were sweet on the verge of cloying. Lots and lots going on here. Lots of sweet fruit, vanilla, bourbon, good heat. Mouthfeel was syrupy with decent carbonation. Overall very complex with many moving parts. Smelled wonderful, just a bit too sweet. Dug it regardless.
