Entered to celebrate my rating number 13,400. Draft at the brewery. A dark brown beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, alcohol, bourbon, caramel, and wood. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, and medium notes of wood and alcohol, the latter burning lightly in the mouth, also light notes of bourbon, leading to a dry, woody, and alcoholic finish.

Bottled@Chriso pre-gbbf "rock the roof down" shindig. Quite close to black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is mild roasted malts, some very sweet maltyness, mild syrupy notes as well as quite nice wooden notes. Flaour is chocolate, some sweet malts, mild liquorice, slight syrupy and alcoholic burning notes as well. As a while a very pleasantly balanced strong beer.

Bottled. Cloudy dark brown, no head. Bourbon and caramel aroma. Sweet and full bodied with soft mouthfeel. Caramelly and vinous with some white pepper and some chocolate sauce. Very elegant, well except for that chocolate sauce.

Vintage 2009, 1 year old
Opening the bottle there are no signs of carbonation; it pours a dark brown color, almost flat, with just a few sparse bubbles. The aroma has caramel, quite sweet, with a light vinous and woody tone. Strong body, quite sweet, full caramel flavor with some malt and vanilla; strong bitterness, thou the hops qualities are unnoticed; the final is basically sweet caramel, bitter, with a touch of fudge; there is a comforting alcohol warmth, though not excessive, which somehow justifies why the barrel aged versions are so boozy; this one is not, just plain powerful. The elements are not very well blended together (high alcohol perception; high bitterness; sweetness), I would like to try it in 5 years.
