Filmishmish, an Arabic term for “when the apricots bloom”, is a barrel aged sour blonde ale to which apricots have been added. The beer’s already fruity esters are enhanced by the hint of fresh apricot jam and wood shavings. Filmishmish is a well balanced beer, keeping the apricot and oak character present, but putting the flavor of the well formed sour ale at the forefront.

Poured from bottle to glass. Hazy golden orange hue with fizzy white head. Aroma is lactic, straw, stone fruit, slight funk. Mouthfeel is nice with a light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweet with a tartness extending throughout. Overall this is a nice brew.

Appearance: Pours an orange cloud.
Aroma: Aroma of apricot.
Taste: Light medium sour, apricot.
Palate:Medium body.

Summary: Pretty good for the style, only had a few ounces as I can’t drink a lot of a sour.

"Pleasant beer throughout. Golden orange in color. Aroma mostly mild tartness with some light fruit and a little oak. Flavor well balanced and complex. Fruit present but not overdone. Kind of a session sour, but definitely well done!"

Sample at a bottle share. Comes a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, funk, and wood. Taste is apricot, funk, spice, and oak. I didn’t think the apricot was overpowering. Nice.

2014 bottle. The beer is deep orange-amber in color. Clouded over. Small white head. Fizzy bubbles that disappear pretty quickly. No bubbles at all after a minute. Very nice aroma. Lots of apricot aroma with a nice undercurrent of sour, funk and oak. Mouthwatering floral apricot fruitiness. Tart. Seems mostly lactic sour. The taste is very sour. It’s too one note tart for me. That huge pucker gets in the way of the fruit and funk. I can taste the apricot, oak and funk, but they’re muted compared to the huge punch of sourness. More acetic than the aroma seemed, though pretty big on lactic sourness, as well. Big pucker. Some body, thought fairly dry. Tart apricots for days.

Bottle thanks to Homer. Pours straight orange, no head really. Carbonation is really low. Aroma is apricot and tartness. Mild funkiness. Taste is sweet, tart, fruity, lip puckering. Damn tasty. Sourness is real nice, like this one.

Bottle; Pour is murky golden, with a one finger white head into this glass ; it fades into oblivion fairly quickly, revealing murky, golden depths. It’s not altogether appealing. The nose is sweet tart, apricot jam for certain, moving to grassy notes, and mild cracker crust. The flavor profile reveals a very sweet tart note, not literally sweet tarts but sweet and tart in marriage. Apricot jam moves this forward to a lively oak presence, while lemongrass rounds it out nicely. It does linger, finishing dry for me. I enjoyed the experience.

Sampled from a bottle. Sour yeast aroma and lots of apricot. Flavor is loaded with apricot, I have never tasted so much of it in any other beer. It blends nicely with the sourness.

A real jewel of a beer. Apricot comes across huge in the nose, but not cloyingly, this is the real deal fruity natural dried California style of apricot that comes across. When this hit my tongue, the apricot exploded with flavor. The sourness really draws out the apricot and the two characters really play off each other. Not to mention the oak, which adds another layer of complexity. I wish I could drink this every day, but I know this is most likely a one off.
