COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filmishmish, an Arabic term for “when the apricots bloom”, is a barrel aged sour blonde ale to which apricots have been added. The beer’s already fruity esters are enhanced by the hint of fresh apricot jam and wood shavings. Filmishmish is a well balanced beer, keeping the apricot and oak character present, but putting the flavor of the well formed sour ale at the forefront.

Bottle shared by MrPickles...thanks Andy! - Pours light amber with a thin ring of white head. Nose is tart and vinegary with stone fruit and pale tart malt. Taste is vinegary, with stone fruit, yogurt, and a light apricot taste. Light and effervescent and smooth. Tasty stuff.

Another in the seemingly endless Bruery product line of "sours which prove it’s hard to make sours that aren’t at least very solid." The apricots don’t come through nearly as much as in the far superior Cascade version, but the beer still tastes pretty damn good.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle from the Bruery Provisions store. It pours a cloudy orange with a short lived off white head. The nose is pure barnyard funk. Bracingly sour up front with nice apricot notes and a funky back end. Light body with a tangy tart finish. This one isn’t for the meek.

750mL bottle, sent from adamjackson (thanks Adam), pours a hazy golden orange with a tiny white head. Aroma is sort of like a berliner weisse, with citric wheat notes, light apricots and a little oak. Flavour is similar, bringing out subdued apricots, wheat, some jam, and a little oak and moderate tartness. Quite a nice tartness, sort of like a blend between a sour blonde and a berliner. Very easy drinking, with no harsh notes or vinegar notes (as is common with The Bruery’s sours). Great stuff.

Bottle. Pours an awesome crystal-clear light golden. Light, airy aroma with a prickly Lacto-like bite and some apricots. Balanced flavor of sour bite and sweet citrus. Light body with very tart, abrupt finish. Solid sour, but much better fresh.

In short: A tart and fruity (apricots) blond ale with a strong farmhouse character. Very good.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when approximately 8 months of age, maybe more. Bottle from Grownfool, thanks a lot Brian.
The look: Clear golden-blond body topped by a small white head (cloudy at the very end of the bottle).
In long: Nose has a nice and strong horsy-farmhouse character dominating apricots and lactic funk. Taste is more juicy-fruity than the aroma, plenty of fresh apricots juice, medium tartness, medium lactic acid presence, some acidity, sourness in the low-medium range for the style, some oak tannins can be felt in the finish. Almost no sweetness sensation despite being very fruity. Carbonation was a bit too soft for my liking thus increasing the juicy sensation of this very fruity beer. Sourheads might be disappointed by this one because this beer is really not that sour, this is a tart & fruity farmhouse blond ale. Rather easy to drink for the style, I drank the full 750ml and I didn’t grow tired of it. Another nice USA bottle I acquired in a trade, over the years I’ve become an expert at illegally sending alcohol across the border, a skill that has never helped me land a job even though I bring it up in every job interview.

Apricots, soured grains, and oak... Oh my! All flavors work in harmony, yeast adds a touch of funk at the end. This has really improved in the last year (was already quite nice), and it's drinking great right now. Shame this was my last bottle :(
