Filmishmish, an Arabic term for “when the apricots bloom”, is a barrel aged sour blonde ale to which apricots have been added. The beer’s already fruity esters are enhanced by the hint of fresh apricot jam and wood shavings. Filmishmish is a well balanced beer, keeping the apricot and oak character present, but putting the flavor of the well formed sour ale at the forefront.

Smells very pungent and funky. Not astringent at all though. I get no alcohol in the nose. There is a good amount of carbonation for a sour. The apricot is in there but its faint compared to the sour notes. The taste is amazing. Super crisp and clean sour apricot greatness. Wish they would have let us buy more than 2 of these...

Bottle via justin. Thanks! Nose is slightly sour with a strong fruitiness with a fleshy apricot note. Hazy orange with a white head that dirs quickly. Taste is puckering initially with a fuzzy apricot flavor. I imagine biting into a sour apricot as I drink this. Moderate to high sourness but not chest burning to the point of detracting from the beer and fruit. Solid A rank beer!

Tap. Color is clear gold with white head. Tart stone fruit and lemon aroma. Taste follows slightly sweet not to tart.

Had on tap at Bruery and then out of bottle into snifter. Better out of the bottle This just became my favorite Bruery sour. Apricot is the best apricot in a sour ever. Prefer over fou.

Cloudy orange with a frothy white foam. The foam dies quickly with no lacing. Sour oranges and apricot aroma is okay but nothing attractive. Initial mouthful is fruity, sour, and slightly tart in the finish. Best served cold as the flavors wane as the beer warms. This is a fair beer but not one of the most memorable ones.

I’m not as wild about this as most, but one excellent quality that this beer has in spades is balance. On the palate, the tartness finishes quickly and doesn’t linger. Nice fruit notes as well.

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy yellow light orange apricot color with a fizzy off white head. Aroma is dry, sour, light apricots. Flavor is potently sour, stinging up front, apricots in the back end. Extremely delicious!

From notes. Tasted on 10/21/12 from a capped 750mL bottle, big thanks to Curtis for sharing. Pours cloudy pale orange with a thin white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is quite sour with some bread malt and plenty of fresh, ripe apricot. The flavor is not as intense as I expected given the nose, but instead a great balance of apricot, citrus sour, bread malt, and light vanilla oak. The body is light with some tannin, light carbonation, and a long sour apricot finish.

Poured from a 2014 vintage bottle. Aroma is super fruity with a nice citrus and acidic backbone. Light oak notes with hints of funk and tropical fruit. Overall, a ton of stone fruit. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a large, somewhat thin, light tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Faint lacing and small legs. Flavor is fairly acidic with a ton of apricots and some other stone fruit. Nice light mustiness with light oak notes. Low bitterness. Hints of tropical fruit and moderate citrus. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a delicious apricot beer. Lacks some of the funkiness and Brett I would like to see, but lots of apricot character.
