Filmishmish, an Arabic term for “when the apricots bloom”, is a barrel aged sour blonde ale to which apricots have been added. The beer’s already fruity esters are enhanced by the hint of fresh apricot jam and wood shavings. Filmishmish is a well balanced beer, keeping the apricot and oak character present, but putting the flavor of the well formed sour ale at the forefront.

Sampled at Bruery Provisions on 2/27/2012. This wild ale pours an orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is apricot, fruit, sweet, tart and some wood. A medium bodied wild ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, apricots and tart. Nice bright carbonation. Crisp and clean tart, slightly funky with a hint of wood. Nice apricot flavors, they are omnipresent but not overpowering. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart with some residual sweetness

Bottle: The aroma consists heavy lemon, apricot, light musty notes, and faint funky footy notes. It pours a dull golden-orange with a small white head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet apricot. The finish has heavy sour lemon, sour apricot, and faint mustiness. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. I’m really digging this one.

Big thanks to Randy for cracking this open. Wow! Been wanting to try this for sometime. Nice apricot sour funk to this bad boy. Very tart, one not to be under estimated. Not for the faint of heart or the newbie to the sour scene. Proceed with caution. It’s damn good!!

Flavor is lemon and apricot with some sour in the finish. Dry and tart on the tongue. Excellent sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured a golden orange in color with a thin fizz of white bubbles on the surface. Aroma has mild acidity, lemon zest, apricot, light sweetness, and some yeasty funk. Mouth feel is light and there is low side carbonation. Flavor gets a tad more pucker going with creeping acidity going to the dry side. Apricot is there but not as big as I had hoped, grape skin, yeasty funk, dry lemon, and some oak. The flavors are well integrated and the apricot is well received here. This is extremely drinkable and the tartness seemed to pick up as the bottle goes on.

Bottle... Poured vibrant, pastel yellow with a lacy, white head. Nose had strong notes of apricots and candied sugars. Super tart, really refreshing. Some wood and funk, but mostly like tart peach or apricot. Almost like fresh juice with some lactic acidity. Hints of citrus and barnyard characters too.
