4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled at a recent tasting. Got a generous pour right after Black Tuesday and Chocolate Rain. Iíd have to say that this was my favorite out of the 3. Maybe Iím partial to hazelnuts but I simply thought it was the best.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very small crream-tan rim over very deep-brown beer. Vinous to brandy-like nose, Bourbon and/or rum, brandy-welled sultanas, fresh oakwood, liquorice, incense. Taste yields brandy, Bourbon, vanilla, moccha, treacle, liquorice. Fruit (strawberry) on alcohol and sweet chocolate, pralines. Rich, but not overwhelmingly thick. Bit sticky, oily, viscous. Obvious alcoholheat. Never mind I canít taste the hazelnuts. I order month of these grey mondays now...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by Jose - big thanks! It pours opaque black with a small tan head. The nose is caramel, toffee, sweet chocolate, vanilla, toasted coconut, roasted malt, nut and earth. The taste is roasted malt, cocoa, alcohol warmth, toast, toffee, nut, vanilla, coconut, wood, booze, motor oil and fruit cake with a warming, roasty finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and oil mouth-feel. Fun to try for sure, but pretty boozy and cloying beyond a few sips.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by a friend. Dark brown appearance with a medium beige head. Malty nose with a big alcohol note along with chocolate, dark fruit and slight hazelnut. Malty flavor with hazelnut and chocolate before a cloying sweet finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing a bottle during his 50th birthday bash. Pours a clear deep brown color with ruby around the edges. Medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, hazelnut and bourbon. Full-bodied and sticky with a sweet hazelnut and malt character, plus a warming booze and chocolate flavor. The finish is roasty with a nutty bourbon aftertaste. Gimmicky yes, but really good.

26th June 2013
Craft Clerkenwell Tasting. Big thanks to Jose. The wax was permeated with an amazing nose of quality praline that only got stronger when the top was flipped. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Good pale tan head. Palate is comparatively light, smooth too. Chocolate - brandy liquer, a little spicy. The hazlenut praline vibe is much more supressed which is a shame but this is still a very nice big booze monster. Finshes smooth.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle split at CBC, big thanks to Jose for muelling this big bot over the pond, 26/06/13.
Mid black with a thin tan head which escapes edgeward.
Nose is booze, praline, dark chocolate, toffee, figs, rich.
Taste comprises dark roast malt, sugars, bitter chocolate, mineral notes, booze.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, slightly cloying on the palate, big boozey finish with some heat.
Decent affair for the ABV, a little over boozey to be one Iíd go back to but great to try.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Jose AKA standardcherry. Thanks for the pour! The appearance is deep brown with hardly any head. The nose is super sweet, boozy. Loads of chocolate syrup, rocky road. Burnt toffee and brown sugar dominate the olfactory nerves. The taste is similarly outsized. Quite a strong accent of roasted hazelnut, nutella spread. Plenty of chocolate and rich toffee. Vanilla and coffee creamer on the finish. Massive body, quite thick and viscous. Overall, good, but I wasnít crazy about it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell - many thanks to Jose for bringing this one. Pours deep brown with a fine, creamy off-white head. Very sugary dark malt aroma, some gooey dark malts, suggestions of chocolate. Big sweet flavor, boozy but not as intense as you might expect, some sticky chocolate and ripened dark fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot finish but, again, not bad for the strength of the beer, with more sticky chocolate, sugary dark malts, figs, dates, chocolate cake. Big, bold. Itís a big, boozy and sugary Bruery imperial stout - in small doses I like the stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle, big thanks to Mikem409 for sharing. Dark brown, still kind of clear around the edges. Particles floating in the body. Minimal light brown / greyish bubbly head. Big hazelnut in the nose, some obvious heat. Dark chocolate, bourbon vanilla, very tasty. Bigger body, lightly sticky. Very light carbonation. Sweet taste, just short of cloying. Alcohol heat, but not as much as I got when I tasted lukewarm Black Tuesday. Lightly spicy. Super long cocoa, nutty vanilla sweet aftertaste. Great, fascinating huge beer. Great stuff to sip and savor. Great experience.
