Loved this beer. Aroma was full of molasses, dark fruit, chocolate. Appearance was darn near black with ribbons of burgundy. Taste was excellent, although I wish I hadn’t let the bottle sit for so long. It really lost a good deal of the macadamia nut flavor, but it remained sweet. Very little ethanol considering the ABV. Perfectly warming. Body was big, lush, velvety.

GABF 2015. Black beer, surprisingly well carbonated. Extremely sweet, tons of alcohol in the aroma, flavor, and on the palate. i can’t imagine drinking a 750 of this. I get soy sauce, balsamic, caramel and tootsie roll. Sell this in a nip bottle, that is all you need.

Bottle, thanks for sharing. Pours black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark fruits, sweet dark grains and barrel with a sweet backbone. Flavor is very sweet with dark grains, dark fruits and toffee with a bit of roasted malts, hazelnut and barrel supporting.

Bottle from 2012 shared Friday night. Deep thick black color with a small quickly dissipating tan head. Huge molasses roast and chocolate with a fair bit of hazel nuttiness still evident. Solid warming alcohol never gets harsh, Very well made huge sipping beer.

Bottle at home after a long day renovating my new house. Black body with a small offwhite head. Chocolate, bourbon, nutty, light alcohol, caramel, oak. Soft carbonation. So delicious.

Sampled at Great American Beer Festival 9/24/15. Tasted directly after Black Tuesday. Very similar. Black appearance with a light brown head. Strong, sweet and lightly boozy. Notes of chocolate, dark malts, oak, vanilla, toasted grain, roast, caramel, toffee, bourbon and hazelnuts. Full body. Nice.

Syrupy. Dark chocolate and some roast. Pours not entirely opaque black with ok head and lacing. Finishes syrupy sweet. Thick oily consistency. Tap at Snallygaster.

Draft at Snallygaster 2015. Poured a medium dark, close to black but not quite, color with a tan head. Velvet. Chocolate syrup. Boozy vanilla, nutty notes. Very smooth. Alcohol is most certainly there, boozy, but not terribly boozy like some high ABV beers I’ve had, these beers seem to be hit or miss, and thankfully this was a big enough hit to recommend. This was a boozy, vanilla, sweet nutty notes. Now I have diabetes. Could they pull this off with half the alcohol? I’d love to try that one...
