Loved this beer. Aroma was full of molasses, dark fruit, chocolate. Appearance was darn near black with ribbons of burgundy. Taste was excellent, although I wish I hadn’t let the bottle sit for so long. It really lost a good deal of the macadamia nut flavor, but it remained sweet. Very little ethanol considering the ABV. Perfectly warming. Body was big, lush, velvety.

A - Dark black with a bit of reddish-brown around the edges and a thin finger of khaki-chocolate colored head. Fades fairly quickly. S - Roasted chocolate and dark caramel malts, Bourbon, oak, vanilla, hazelnuts, black licorice, coffee, dark fruits, and some booze. T - Roasted chocolate and dark caramel malts, hazelnuts, Bourbon, vanilla, oak, black licorice, molasses, dark fruits, coffee, and booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a warming, sweet, and nutty finish. D - Super bold and complex, and the hazelnuts add some great character.

Bottle, poured into a tulip. The hazelnut in the wax had been smelling up my beer fridge for weeks. Pours brown with very little head. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, cherries, and slight hazelnut. Flavor is very similar to regular BT, with maybe a little less burn from the alcohol - the hazelnut smooths it out. Great mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this one, but didn’t get nearly as much hazelnut flavor as I was expecting (and that’s probably a good thing, thinking of Frangelic).

750 ml bottle shared by urbancaver- thanks again, Cam! Pours a deep brown-amber that’s opaque in the bulk of the body and light around the edges. No head to speak of. The description "Black Tuesday with Hazelnuts" is also sufficient as a 4-word review of this beer. That’s how I would describe it to anyone who’s had Black Tuesday. Hazelnut on vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, caramel, oak, bourbon, coconut, molasses, and marshmallow. Smooth, sweet, and a little warming, though it’s still shocking that these beers are over 19% ABV. I know they’re not for everyone but I love them; this one is no exception. By the way, scented wax? Fun.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2013 Bottle. Pours the color of medium coffee with no head. Boozy aroma of bourbon and sherry with a hint of chocolate-covered dark cherries. Smooth bourbon on the taste with chocolate and oak tones with only the tiniest bitter nutty notes; quite sweeter than the first time I tried. Not nearly as hot as 2012 Black Tuesday; smoother palate as well. Just awesome.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2013 Too similar to Black Tuesday to warrant a different review. Hazelnuts are faint at best. Pretty hot as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge thanks to Bman1113vr for sharing this one! Inky, glass staining motor oil of a pour. Aroma is big time fusels, hazelnuts, raisins, brown shugga, leather, tannins. Flavor is booze soaked pancakes (trust me, they’re good), brown sugar, booze, bourbons, raisins, hazelnuts. Warm finish with a full mouthfeel. Some sweetness from the alcohol. Delicious beer, got to have more of this guy in the future.

From the bottle, dark brown pour, not much head. Less boozy and a little easier to drink then Black Tuesday, otherwise very similar. It’s very good.

Appearance: Pours a cola brown with some small bubbles a top.

Aroma: Slight hazelnut syrup, roast, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla.

Taste: Hazelnuts, bourbon, chocolate, graham cracker, wood.

Mouthfeel: Warming, full bodied with delicate carbonation.

Overall: One of my favorite Black Tuesday variants. The introduction of the hazelnuts smooths some of those hot rough edges off of fresh Black Tuesday, and if you like hazelnuts or hazelnut flavoring in your coffee, you will appreciate it here. If you got a bottle from Reserve Society, I would consider drinking it in the next 6 months tops, to enjoy the layer of hazelnut goodness.
