Brewed in memory of my Grandparents (Fred and Sarah Hottenroth), this tart German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We used lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer. Almost an extinct style, we hope to help revive the Berliner Weisse in memory of two great people (ABV 3.1%, IBU 2, SRM 2, Format 30L kegs).

Bottle. Bright yellow with a huge fluffy white head. Lemon, sweet tarts, light grassy notes, Apple juice. Medium body and lower carb than I expected. Just the right amount of mild sweet and sour characteristics to add flavor but, keep this one easy to drink, light, and juicy. Everything in here works really well together. --- rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wet wheat and lemon aroma. Taste very sour with wet wheat and cider and honey. Very low carbonation no head. Finishes extremely dry and citric sourness.

Aroma of hay, cider, and granny smith apples. Appears hazy yellow. Tastes of unsweetend applesauce and hay. Overall, a very approachable and mild Berlinerweiß, very nice.

Almost no head left, fully hazy yellow beer. Spicy, lots of citrus, very faintly farmyard smell. Citrus, even expressly lemon, with a strange finishflavour that reminds me of Lindenblossom. Again some very restrained spices, whilst the end is completely lactic acid. Light (but not too light) body, fine carbonation, dry and acidthinning. Fine, lacking the sometimes typical Bruery-over-the-top acidity, true to the style. Many thanks to LouisV!

75cl Bottle. Pours a clear, light yellow with a big, short lasting head. Aroma is tart, wheat, honey, grain, slight honey melon. Taste is pretty weak, but some sour, unrip pear-like tartness and bitterness. Not as fruity as the semll, but more wheaty. Burning sour body and medium high carbonation.
