COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in memory of my Grandparents (Fred and Sarah Hottenroth), this tart German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We used lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer. Almost an extinct style, we hope to help revive the Berliner Weisse in memory of two great people (ABV 3.1%, IBU 2, SRM 2, Format 30L kegs).

Bottle at share at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton. Thanks Edgar! Small snifter pour of a hazy, almost milky yellow with a one finger pillow head. Some nice lacing. Aroma of citrus especially lemon, brett, lemon-cello, bread and cereal. The taste was not overly sour or tart, but just right with the lemons coming to life. As it warmed more lemons appeared. I didn’t use any woodruff on this one. The Citric acid wasn’t too harsh and the brett/lacto was in check nicely. Nice clean finish, easy to drink. Overall another good one from The Bruery.

Pours a slightly hazy lemony yellow with two fingers of fluffy white head diminishing moderately quickly to a thin skim and light lacing. Nose is muted citrus and honey, faint fruit. Taste is tart apple and citrus, slight bready yeast and malt. Light-bodied and crisp, with sustained carbonation and a dry, tart, and bitter finish. One heck of a hot day on the patio kind of beer. Not sweet at all, tart and crisp, almost cider-like in character. The low ABV makes this something you could drink all day long. Now I want to try it with raspberry syrup!

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy yellow with a gold tint and a small white head. Nose brings out quite the funk, with citrus, wheat, some barnyard funk, and some sharp astringent hops. Flavour is tart and citric, with a very wheaty mouthfeel. Exceptional balance and flavour depth, with a lightly tart and citric finish. Excellent stuff from the Bruery, for a change.

Draft at Lazy Dog. Pours hazy yellow gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes fruity, like pears, sour apples, tart lemonade, and dry soda. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells funky, like sour fermenting fruit, and old yeast.

On tap @ The Distillery / Savannah GA --- Cloudy pale gold with a full white head cover, no lace. Taste is wheat malt that is swept aside by a full wave of sour in the palate that continues consistently to a lingering sour finish. Good traditional Weissbier, thirst quenching, refreshing, reviving on a hot July afternoon in Savannah.
