4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 HonusWagner (909) - Florida, USA - DEC 25, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2011 Unbelievable beer. Nose is light brett with tones of lemon and a fresh grassy quality. Taste is lightly tart, cereal grains, mild brett funk, slight sweetness, a bit of grape skins. Absolute miracle of beer, flavorful, light, crisp. Looks perfectly to style, cloudy light white. Incredible.
e: I was probably too generous, although it’s still really good. Worse on tap than out of the bottle, oddly enough.

Cloudy gold, thick white head. It’s sour and awesome. There isn’t much I can add. I could ty to find other ways of saying sour, I suppose - tart, lemony, lactic,. But really, Its sour and very drinkable and quenching and awesome.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil - this is what you want in a berliner weisse - nice full carbonation in the mouth - crisp, fresh wheaty character - dry, lightly acidic and lactic - light white wine character - tangy and tart, bordering on sour, but never going completely there - very refreshing, with lingering wheat/breadiness and mild earthy funk in the finish - lemon and peach throughout - fantastic.

Draft @ RnH. White head dissapears quick leaving just a white ring. Aroma is earthy and acidic lemony. Flavor is even more tart then the aroma but it’s offset beautifully with a sweet graininess. This was one of my favorites at EBF and one of the best versions of the style I’ve had.

Bottle from somewhere. Pours a very pale yellow, slightly hazy. Frothy head. Nose is a clean lacto note. Brett is minimal. Citrus is in there, as is a light grainy note. On taste, more of the same. Very light, very clean, very refreshing. I could drink a ton of this. Excellent.

Really nice aroma. Wheaty and tart. Super light and flavorful. I wish it was higher in alcohol though. Cloudy and elegant in appearance. Delicious lemon tart with slight unfiltered wheat flavor. Great beer.

Growler generously donated to the tasting by pepsican. Thanks! Poured a hazy pale yellow color with a white head. Enticing aromas including the likes of cereal grain and distinct yeasty bread dough accented by whiffs of white wine vinegar and cow pasture funk. Light bodied with moderate acidity. Lots of good funk in the flavor relative to the New Glarus Berliner (tasted side by side). Clean, crisp, and dryish with sour fruit, tart citrus, white wine vinegar, and subdued cereal flavors. Great beer.

On tap at Pacific Standard. Very pale opaque yellow with flat white head and lace. Tart white grape funky cheesy aroma. Tart peachy cheesy funky with very clean dry finish. Light refreshing body and effervescent carbo. I’m still hit or miss with the BW style, but this one was definitely a hit.
