Tap at Strong Ale 2008. After seeing this in the bathroom at Beachwood, I was glad to be able to drink it. Pours yellow gold, with a bright white ring. Nose is yeasty, hoppy and nice. Taste is sweet and floral, hoppy and yeasty, and nice.

Very hoppy is right! On tap at the Bruery. Pours with a small, white head and a hazy orange body. Aroma is a hop bomb of a belgian, with lots of (what smell like, but are not) c-hops, citrus and pine dominate. It is all hops, hops, hops on the aroma with a bit of belgian yeast. Taste is pungent and sticky hops with a belgian yeast spiceyness in the background. A belgian DIPA! Dryish mouthfeel with lively carbonation.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Fruity (citrus/summer) aroma. Malt flavor with summer and citrus fruits and backing light yeast. Medium body. Yeast, summer and citrus fruits linger. Nice blend of hop flavor and fruity esters.

On Cask. This was the version hopped with Cascades I guess. The aroma was strongly hoppy. Lots of pine and floral hops. Very Cascadey. Underneath this was a light yeasty presence. Pours golden with a moderated haze and little head. More big C hops initially followed by a light yeasty spice, bready grains, and a lightly noticeable sweetness. Lots of lingering hop resins. Carbonation was almost null and void. Had no clue this was 9.1%. This was interesting and nice.

On tap at the 2008 San Diego Strong Ale Fest, Fruity, citrus, tasty, nice beer. Also had on tap (cask version) at the bruery on 02Jan2009, the hop flavor has faded a tad, but has a nice fruity taste w/ a hoppy aroma

Dry hopped with cascade hops. Excellent hoppy aroma. Medium to low hoppy bitterness. Easy to drink. Very good. I feel my rating will be a little high, because I drank under these awesome conditions, but whatever. Good is good.

On tap at City Beer Store in SF. Call me crazy, but I’m going to be an outlier here and say this was a phenomenal beer. An excellent merger of the Belgian Golden Ale and West Coast IPA styles. Aroma is yeasty with citrusy hops. Flavor is the same, balanced by sweet malt with light fruit notes. Medium-bodied with a lively mouthfeel. Mr. Rue, if you’re reading this (and you probably are), I beg you to brew more of this stuff.

Pour is a golden color with creamy white head. Citrus, lemon zest, biscuits, fruity esters, and floral hops. This was really nice and drinkable for the abv. Nice mouthfeel. Excellent brew.
