Pours a dark black color with a smoked aroma. Taste is a strong smoked flavor with a hint of maple syrup sweetness. This beer seemed easier and more flavorful as it warmed. Overall a different tasting beer, that I’m glad i sampled.

Draft at the brewery. Clear brown/amber pour, beige head. Smells mmm good, maple syrup, smoked bacon, pancakes, a good breakfast. Flavor is less enticing, maple, brown sugar, toasted bread, bitter hops, and a astringent metallic finish. This beer does not finish well.

Butterscotch and charcoal aroma. Clear cola brown, thin yellow head. Bakers’ chocolate, butterscotch, and charcoal flavor. Finishes with maple syrup and charred oak. Neat beer, not necessarily up my alley, but it’s good.

(Rating #3804)

Big ups to Josh and Jacqui for sharing this in Bloomington! Medium dark brown pour with a nice prickly carbonation. Body doesn’t appear to be quite as thick as I’d anticipated (not syrup, but y’know), but still some nice sticky retention and a modest head. Nose did not come across nearly as smoky to me as I was expecting, just a modest but notable bacon element that went well with the pancakes. Mouthfeel is nice, a little bit on the slick side, especially in the finish. Flavors are pleasant, with only a moderate amount of maple but enough so that it balances out some of the beer’s more aggressive tendencies. Not a bad collab.

Bottle… Dark brown ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The nose is a menagerie of smoked meat, smoked gouda and malty maple. Full-bodied and quite viscous with modest carbonation. The flavor is chocolaty with a load of smoke and a touch of maple. Perfectly balanced. Finishes minerally and smoky. Odd bird, but darn nice. Bottle courtesy of 50belair. Thanks Matt!

(750ml bottle) Pours a clear brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, maple, nuts, raisins, brown sugar, and toffee. Flavor of caramel, bread, smoke, earthiness, and toasted grain.

Draft. Pours brown with a thin beige head. Light roasty aroma with molasses and light floral hops. The flavor is well balanced, with lightly roasted malts, toast, molasses, floral hops, toffee, and lighter woody and smokey notes. Good stuff.

Most of the Bruery’s beers taste like Glade essence that is distilled, poured into a stemmed glass, and then served chilled. This little ditty is a little bit more earthy and lacking in floral tones. It’s not going to be top billed on any beer festival, but it does have a potent smokiness that permeates around your senses. A welcomed addition to the resume of these brewers.
