Aged bottle. Pours a deep murky brown with a tan head. The aroma is sweet smoke, plums, chocolate; very complex and exciting. The smoked malt and maple play very well in this beer. I enjoyed every sip.

Bottle. Nice light earthy malts, some almond with a little spice behind it. I didn’t really get the maple but others i shared the bottle with did. Held up pretty good but wasn’t really my thing to begin with.

bottle shared by fred82, thanks dude. pours unclear dark brown reddish with a small light beige head, some retention and lacing. smoked malts - not overdone - and spicy nutty caramel maltiness, woodsy and spicy, slightly garbagy, grassy. moderate carbonation, light body - quite light for its abv, probably over-attenuated with the use of maple syrup, as fred suggested, grassy-spicy and lightly astringent finish. linear malt bill - fair amount of caramel. and maple doesn’t quite add anything to the brew if not a lighter body. still.. enjoyable.

Bottle 750ml. Thx Fred82 bro/dude/dawg. Pours very dark burgundy. Low-medium beige head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of smoke, spices, sugar, caramel, "winter spices". Taste is of smoke, spices, fruits, maple syrup, caramel, "winter spices". Palate: Medium-full bodied. Just slightly sticky. Overall: Not overly complex. Good, but not really outstanding. I’m glad this one ain’t sour.

Bottle thanks to Stavros. Pours a dark brown with small frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong roast and smoke, wet biscuit. Thin mouthfeel with light maple and roast with nice smoke finish. Good but didnt hold up very well.

750 ml bottle shared with the group (may ’12). Pours a clear caramel brown color with a medium sized beige head that disappeared quickly. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, maple syrup, a mild smokey character, hints of sausage in maple syrup, dark fruit, woody, rich with good mouthfeel.

Very interesting beer. Tannic and fruity. almost smoked like a rauchbier would taste. quite hammy and finishes with a maple sweetness that’s pretty faded at this point. I think this beer is 2 years old now. ABV is well hidden!

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Nice cocoa, light roast, maple, and mild smoke in the aroma. Taste is a bit disjointed but there’s some cocoa, slight roast, underlying smoke, and maple. Some lingering alcohol bitterness. Clean and smooth mouthfeel. Nice - better than I had anticipated.
